he would be a second or third line center here, and play PK for them at this point.
not for 5.75M and how many years he has left
I loved him as a flyer but that ship has sailed - Marc D

All Schenn will ever be is 4-5 man at best. I think by now if we were going to see more he would have developed a more consistent game by now - 3flyerkids

I thought he was their best Dman in the Ranger series last year. He did everything you mentioned above. However, he cannot do that on a consistent level. You never know what you are going to get from him, that's what makes him IMO a 4-5 guy.
this is his 7th season, I was just hoping we would get more value from him for the price we paid - 3flyerkids
I was gonna add in that he was the best defender in the rangers series. Chipped in a really nice goal during that series, was doing everything you can ask of a big man defender. I guess you're right though, his inconsistency is what makes him a 4-5 kinda guy. Maybe wishful thinking, but I'm just hoping he finds consistency the rest of this season and next season, then he'll be a more than qualified nhl quality defender.

That's my view as well. He's not a big guy and he does have some issues being a consistent defensive player, but he's not scared of the physical game. - Jsaquella
No he is not afraid of the Physical game just ask Bortuzzo! |

pair him with a dman that can move the puck and he might look like kronwall with lidstrom |

Seems like they're doing better when Mason is out than when he is in. - Feanor
The difference there is, Mason is widely acknowledged as having played at an exceptionally good level, where as Coburn has played at a subpar level, for the most part.
Statistically, that's shown to be the case. The team's biggest area of trouble, the PK, is a spot where Coburn was heavily counted on. Despite missing 20 games so far, Coburn has been on the ice for 19 of the 43 PPGs against the Flyers.
Outside of Matt Read, Coburn is probably the Flyers biggest disappointment this season. |

I think Vinny has tremendous value to a bubble playoff team that needs an experienced winner |

Who would you rather have? AMac at 5Mill per season or Phaneuf a 7Mill? |

I'll probably get slammed for this, but honestly, I'd rather have Dion at 7. |

Nope, I would too -- simple math for me. With two onerous contracts, take the better player and figure it out from there
You are screwed either way. At least take the more valuable asset that you might be able to flip again at some point because talent is talent |

I firmly believe Phaneuf can turn it around under the right circumstances too. I really liked him on the Flames. Amac is what he is. |
