I think we have a bit of a log jam at bottom 6 fwd anyways... Losing Higgins wouldn't be losing much

Yep. We have too many 3rd liners

Seriously?? You listed the just top guys...Ladd, Wheeler, Buff...are they top scorers?? No...so how do you want them to play?? They play the western style game, fast and hard! If you don't like that game, then that's too bad. We don't have goons, the closest might be Peluso...but if you actually watched more than 1 game, you would know he is no goon. The penalties are comical, 50 % earned, 50 % garbage! It's been going on for a while like that. But all that really matters is will they make the playoffs or not....and if we do, I would much rather have the JETS lineup going in a 7 game series than your Canucks.

Tough to play against doesn't mean fighting necessarily. You are confusing the term tough to play against with enforcer. If requesting players who fight was Willies agenda, we would still have Toasttito in the line up.

I saw him play last weekend. He is slower then the polar ice cap melt.

I would add something small to Higgins but otherwise I would look elsewhere. We can't afford the premium it would cost for a recently emerged top 6 fwd. We need to be looking at roster logjams (someone like Dmitrij Jaskin) or just picks. Losing some of our depth won't result in a tank, we might end up a spot or 2 lower but who cares we aren't contending

Tell this to Benning. He seems to think we can still end up in the playoffs doing a solid push towards SCF. We know this won't happen, but as Benning does. It is better to look at trades that will do that, rather than trades that will guarantee we won't make playoffs. I am of the mindset that younger players with potential is better than older players that can give a playoff push. We likely wouldn't see younger players that can give a playoff push unless Benning is willing to package picks/prospects/old players for them. No team in the NHL is looking to trade their 25 y/o producing NHLer for our 30+ post prime players, not unless they get something young in exchange as well.

You forgot about uncle Lou. He seems to love his older past the prime players on big contracts. Maybe he will take Miller for Schneider?

I would love to see a big package deal for either Jeff Skinner or Taylor Hall(if rumors of him being for sale if price is right).

Maybe Markstrom/1st/Higgins/Hansen/Prospect for Hall/Yakupov? Or take out a couple things and just do Hall?

He'd probably get it on the open market. Similar to Franson, why not aim high in negotiations with the Leafs? They'll make more for a better team if they leave.

Probably not. With a contract like that a team needs to give a 1st and 3rd.(Kadri is RFA still). If that was the case you would have seen R. Johansen get a 5-6mil offer from another team that CBJ would have matched.

Unless he does what Franson did and keeps accepting one year deals until he has UFA leverage.

Don't think you get Hall without one of Tanev/Virtanen/Horvat involved plus another good asset or two.

Bolland 2.0. Maybe he can go to Panthers and join his good buddy Dave Bolland.

If that's what they're asking we should pay it. For the elite skillset and scoring he would provide to this team he's worth something like Horvat + Corrado + Higgins (to use your example).

This is why i put markstrom and a prospect(likely shink) as gives EDM a goalie with higher projection than what they have now(could probably already do better than their goalies) and i have always felt shink will be a top 6 forward within 2-3 years. Also with them looking to stay bottom, allows them to start trying Markstrom out and will not effect their overall progress. Same with shink.

Love Skinner and love Hall but they are more and more looking like damaged goods. Skinner is unfortunately another serious concussion from having his career ended. And Hall better alter his gung-ho-all-out style, as it's obvious he, too, is injury prone

I don't think your scenario would do it, though - they would probably want a guy like Virtanen who I hope is in the untouchable territory

You could also seperate the twins in 5v5. They proved they don't need to play together to produce(Henrik won scoring title with Daniel injure for a large amount of season). Put Daniel on 2nd line and trade for a rwing. Maybe get Eberle? bring up someone from ahl.

jensen(or shink)-hank-vrbata
dank - bonino - eberle
mattias - richardson - burrows
kenins - horvat - dorset

use Vey, hansen and higgins in deal for a good young rwing

Scrivens is not as bad as he's looked. He's a bit streaky but when he's on he's quite good. It's just he's got a sh*tty defense in front of him who give up a whole slew of chances night in and night out. I don't think Markstrom would be an upgrade, at this time at least.
