Horvat, Gaunce, Cassels, McCann all projected to top out at 3rd line centre. Why even take Horvat at the 9th pick in the first round then? Trade the pick for Bozak or Kadri, at least they are 1st and 2nd line centres.
Makes no sense, all these projections are (frank)ing stupid. So someone in the 5th round, what's he projected at? Oh hey, it's Pavel Datsyuk, guess the projections didn't work that time. - Scooby_Doo
Benning might have been thinking that at the draft when it was rumored he was shopping a 1st and Horvat to snag Reinhart. I bet Horvat being this good at 19 yrs old may have opened his eyes though. |

You think Andrew Cassels was a #1 or #2 center
Mind=blown - belcherbd
Well, 732 points in 1,015 games is pretty respectable and definitely reaches at least #2 center territory, regardless of his defensive deficiencies. |

If these things are all true then why would we want him? If he is indeed worth having, then WPG is not going to want our misfit pieces for their top 6 fwd. I am trying really hard to stomach the constant quantity for quality proposals that get put together on here but the gastrointestinal lining can only take so much poison before you start puking up verbal expletives - bezz44
You, sir, are a poet! (a little bitter*, perhaps but a poet nonetheless )

Superb play maker... easy chemistry... never seemed to get star status somehow. Too quiet I guess. Seemed to work for him though.

I loved watching him play, especially in Hartford with Sanderson.
He was still pretty good here, such a nice passer. |

Ya just missed each other. Didn't realize Sanderson only played 22 games as a Canuck, and it was 2 stops 6 years apart. |

Tanev, Lack and Hansen for Strome and Da Haan - Bieksa#3
It wouldn't surprise me to see Tanev in play this TDL. Maybe the Glendenning trade was also made to replace Tanev. It really has been a rocky relationship with contract negotiations between Tanev and the Canucks. Maybe Benning is planning on packaging Kassian and Tanev for a significant piece.
They may also be getting Kassian all worked up like they just slashed Bruce Banner's tires before the TDL so that he plays like an animal for a week or two the deadline.

Did Cassels and Sanderson play together at all here in Vancouver? Were they even together here at the same time? |

There's still a ton of time left to negotiate Tanev's contract... I couldnt imagine that there is a sense of bad blood this early in the process.

Didn't like that Demko was chosen in the second round and we might be lucky to get a 2nd rounder for Marstrom or Lack... - hillbillydeluxe

I even heard in an interview his father Andrew project him as a 3rd liner. Pigeon holed by his own dad...
- boonerbuck
I must admit, while are drafting over the yrs leaves something to be desired, we found a gem in Cassels. His stats his draft yr were garbage. |

Different era. Hell 90s 15 or 20 guys scored a 100 pts every single yr. Do you really think the players were that much better. Go watch some highlights, the goalies were (frank)ing pathetic How many times now do you see a guy take one step over the blue line coming down the wing and bury it? It happened every game in the 80s and 90s. Goalie let's that in today he gets hooked |
