Great game. Solid result.

I like Lehner's reaction. Coach handled it the right way. But, team gets the message.

Passion is essential ingrediant of success.

Great night for the Senators future. Wins by Columbus, Toronto and Carolina. Meaningless wins in a lost season is not what they need now.

A top five pick would be the best thing that could happen for the long-term future of this team.

I'm glad Lehner has been calling ou his teammates - all season all we've heard in Ottawa is how they are playing well enough to win and they just need a bounce or two - this is the #5 worst team in the NHL

We need more guys like Lehner who draw a line in the sand - we have never had someone step up and say they have to at least playlet a dirty 60 minute game, not that Ottawa is about to do that because we play soft on backcheck and it is almost disgraceful to watch how lazy some of our players are on the backcheck - but at least someone in the dressing room is showing some emotion and not just worried about padding history stats for his next contract or making sure he's not injured for his golf game in early April.

In the 5 spot, Sens now have a 8.5% chance of winning the draft lottery

With Carolina and Arizona just 3 points back each, they could possibly grab the 3rd spot behind EDM & BUF..

That would be phenomenal and a turning point for the franchise if it happened.

They are going to get a very good pick. I think they will add a couple more picks, nice to see them land a first and another 2nd.

I think they could hit a home run if they decide to move Ryan. I know it is not a popular idea year. But it will be soon enough. Ryan with Tavares would be a huge add for the Islanders. The Islanders have great depth at center and some very good prospects.

Come this June there will be a bunch of teams trying to get under the cap. Goal scorers will be available at a discount rate. Think Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, LA and others will be in cap jail.

In any market you always want to sell high (assets) buy (low). I would also go after Kane right now. His age and game fits the development stage of the Sens.

I still don't think this team will finish in 3rd, but that would work out for us.

I really like what I am seeing in Ryan. I wouldn't want them to deal him.

I would be ok with getting Kane though. I would package MacArthur, Stone and Dallas' 2nd round pick for him. That would help Winnipeg with their playoff push. I would rather include Chiasson instead of Stone but doubt that works for the Jets.

Ryan, Kane, Turris, Lazar, Zibanejad, Hoffman is a nice core of young forwards. Then add a potential top line player with a top five pick and you have the makings of a real contending team.

I think you'd be nuts to give up Ryan. 30 goal-scorers don't grow on trees. Not to mention, we lack raw talent and leadership, both of which Bobby brings. We'll have a great pick this year, we have some young guys with promising talent (Stone, Hoffman, ZB (I still think he's going to develop into an awesome hockey player), Lehner), why trade away a star like Bobby? Unless someone is giving us a first higher than our own, I wouldn't be trading him.

I agree. I'm going full tank mode the next 6 games before playing LA,SJ,ANA (last games before the deadline)

Tues: @BUFF -- Thurs: vs. PIT -- Sat: vs. EDM -- Next Mon: vs. CAR - Next Weds: vs. MTL -- Next Sat: vs. FLA

Before California I'll be very happy if Sens only collect 4-5 points.

Am I the only one that thinks the Sens would be wise to move Bobby Ryan at this time. Love his attitude, love his game. He could push a contender over the top. But his age and skill set are just not congruent with the Sens at this point in time.
- spatso

This idea is not a bad one... . I don't think they'll trade him having signed him until 2022. He's a big name player that's finally healthy. In 2 years he turns 30 and that's likely when the Sens SHOULD be contending again. But it's fair to argue his best years - thus best value - will be gone by then, even if he's still very very useful.

This is not true. We had quantity when we traded for Turris and Ryan and traded away Bishop. We no longer have guys in the organization to fill in for the prospect moved. We had guys in the system (all on the team now) to replace Runblad, Bishop, Silf, Noesen, etc. Who do we have in the system that replaces Hoffman? Stone? Lazar? etc.
- Gord_Wilson_2.0

Firstly, Sens have an excess of 2nd/3rd line players on a contending team; I believe you know this already and any avid and knowledgeable Sens fan should know by now. Mark Stone and Mike Hoffman are in the top class of rooke scoring. It is very unlikely that either will be a top line player and that is exactly what this team needs. 6-7 and 93-6 are already pairs. You have Lazar who has to play in the top 6 in the future. Sens have vets like 9-17-15-22 in the bottom 6 (3/4 liners not hard to fill through FA or trade). This team has Chiasson, Puempel, Prince as add-ons and then 3 picks in the top 45 (add more picks if/when Neil and possibly others are traded in the next 3 weeks). Murray has the assets to trade - if he plays his hand right.

All this talk of Bobby Ryan getting traded is mind numbing

It will NOT happen as long as BM is GM.

I think any talks of trading Ryan is crazy at this point. we don't need future stars at the moment we have lots of those. what we need to to build a core group of top end talent to build around, then you start worrying about players that are exchangeable.

Which comes back to my point from the previous blog. We have Ryan. I say try to bring in Kane and build from there.

Personally I feel like the Turris - Ryan - Mac line is perfect for our #2. So bring in Kane and see about building a solid first line from there to get a good one two punch and from there then you can interchange players on each line and see who fits with who.

Do not agree with this. I know we all love him and have hyped him to death, but Lazar has done nothing to show he belongs in a top 6.

With each passing game I watch him, I think more and more he's destined to be a great third liner.

Way to early to predict that imo.. He just turned 20 a couple days ago. In 37 games he has 2G 6A 8 Pts.. Not great numbers but, he is playing limited minutes on lines with bottom 6 forwards.

I honestly haven't been this stoked on a prospect since EK65.

I could see Lazar being our Dustin Brown down the road. ( A less dirty virsion of course ) 25G 30A in his prime years

As for future stars for us. I think Lazar being our Dustin brown is the perfect example.

I think Hoffman has been awesome and is just going to keep getting better as well.

I agree, Hoffman looks to be a good 2nd line winger for the Sens moving forward. I could see him getting a 3 year deal around $2.5 -3.0 mill this summer.

If we can get Mitch Marner or Dylan Strome at #5 that would be nice..

I think Noah Hanifan goes #3 or #4 so '' Best player available'' would be these 1 of these two.

At this point Murray must be thinking SELL SELL at the TD to create a couple roster spots for more youth. Shane Prince, Matt Puemple Prob get a look. Maybe Lazar goes back to EDM to try and win another Memorial Cup.
