I lost out on a graded bossy last night

kane/mceichel represents 2/3 of a top line...ennis can fill...girgensons drops a slot, as does moulson...re-signing stew puts him top-six for now until either one of the youngins (bailey) develops or they land a right-winger, imo...

they're very similar in the way they play...strong without the puck, smart with it...gus needs more seasoning but he's on a pace for 20 goals...both are pretty good top-six, all-situations centers who could play a top-line role...and both are leaders

I never said it was "not important"... I said its not as much of the game as it used to be. Guys used to get mauled in front of the net back in the day. You just cant do that anymore. You'll get a penalty. Its why I laughed whenever people said "Vanek took a beating in front of the net" like he actually played in the 80's.

Hitting doesnt necessarily amplify in the playoffs. Just the intensity of the playoffs, we as fans put more emphasis on it. That series had more hitting than the actual Stanley Cup Finals did.

He got a lot of hate because people expected more from him. He was a good depth option. Fringe top 6 player. He did a lot of other things right -- puck support, protecting the puck, going to the dirty areas, driving the net. Staff could be a key player on a cup contender IMO.
