Myers and Bogosian are far from a wash at this point. Winnipeg has been a better team lately and he hasnt exactly produced. In a year it might look like the opposite.
Murray is banking on Risto/Zads being our 1-2. They have a year or two before we know if they can be those guys yet - sbroads24
I think on a good team Myers and Bogosian are #3D (and I am a fan of Myers). They are very different players and I really liked what I saw last night out of Bogosian.

Which is why I have stated it will be at least 3 season to see who if anyone "Won" this trade.
I remember (myself included) it being said we won the Pommer deal. At this point it is Zads for Pommer as Larsson and Hackett are not what they were cracked up to be. - dadeadhead
Insert Armia and Lemieux.
I still think Lemieux is being severely overrated by some. |

2015 Non-Buffalo first
McCabe
Bailey
2015 2nd
2016 2nd (Becomes first if Buffalo Makes playoffs)
It give them 3 picks in the 1st and 2nd round. and 2 2nd rd prospects.
All things said it gives them 5 picks/players in rds 1-2. - ImThatGuy
I'd offer them nothing for him at this point.

Exactly - not a wash. Bogo is a better overall player. Period - Irish 14
Prove it? Seriously, bias aside, where is that proof? |

I think if Zads ends up being who we will hope he will be we will have made out just fine even though Hackett and Larsson appear to be busts.

So no clear winner.
Kind of how I feel this trade will turn out in the end. A good old fashioned hockey trade. |

I don't get the fascination with winning trades. If it works out for both teams, who cares? I just want to know I got good value. |

I hear you. Having first yr defenseman developing in the nhl has always been a bad idea imo. Having enough depth to bring them along slowly is huge. When we started our rebuild we were forced into doing it bcs of our lack of depth after milbury. That has obviously changed over time and we did the right thing with Lee, pulock, dehaan, and strome amongst others. When you can have your blue chips developing in the ahl thats a true sign of depth imo. - Cptmjl
Ristolainen played last season in the AHL, Pysyk has played a bunch of AHL games (this whole year plus some prior), McCabe is there now.
Of 6 roster spots, there's 3 that will take NHL spots for a while (hopefully), then add Bogosian, Gorges and Zadorov (the unfortunate case of being "forced" onto the NHL roster). A #7 will be Weber or some other sort of vet d-man that the team will likely pick up from Free Agency (or pull up someone like Strachan who has already played 30 games in Buffalo this year).
So they're doing that part of things "right" still |

They weren't lining up to offer blockbuster deals for him I can assure you that much. - sbroads24
23 year old with a 30 goal season under his belt and 109 career goals.
Sure, no one was lining up for him.
No team (aside from Buffalo) probably thought a change of scenery would be good for the kid.

I guess in my opinion Bogo brings somewhat of a complete game.
Bogo:
Tough in own end
Strong skater
Student of the game
PP D man
Leader
One of hardest shots in league
Plays with jam
Grade - A-
Myers:
Big
PP D Man
Skates well for a big guy
Has a nice reach
Grade - B+ |

There is no way teams will be offering their entire prospect system and picks for Kessel. He's a great goal scorer and not a centerpiece and even though he's 27, most teams won't swallow the term and number on his deal.
I could see Arizona offering Max Domi, a second, and a prospect.
Teams know the Leafs are looking to dump him. Won't be the huge haul people are suggesting, IMO. |

By all accounts there was 3 teams.
2 backed out when they realized the price of playing poker.
I'd guess there were several playoff teams interested but only in the offseason.
IMO their GM needed to move him now for current help as they are in the middle of a playoff race. They needed this move as much as Buffalo needed it.
They get an extra body for the run, we all but assure ourselves the 1 or 2 pick.
In the end it is a win/win. |

Your argument, I believe, was no one wanted him. That's insane, regardless of his issues. |

We don't know either way what happened there. I read that some of that was in fun. For what it is worth Bogo said that he likes him just fine. Either way, the guy is top-end talent and is rarely available via a trade. |

I said no one wanted him? I said there weren't teams lining up to offer a blockbuster, if their were, Chevy wouldn't have moved him so quick. He got an offer he couldn't refuse |

In this situation he was dealing from a position of strength. I think deep down they wanted him out now but unless a strong offer came in they could have waited until the summer when teams would have been lining up as they were before he got hurt. |
