Kenins has effectively replaced Kassian, showing more heart and effort in his 9 game stint then Kas has in four years.
Get a 2nd or 3rd for him while permanently freeing up a roster spot.
(frank) it. - Whiskey-Tango
Kassian for a 3rd? Might as well keep him.

I still think Staal had it under him in the net and passed it out to Talbot... If Talbot had it the whole time why wouldn't he show it to the refs right away to avoid the video replay and such... - noisewater
Watch the replays and you'll see him pass the puck back out. The rangers announcers were pretty complementary about the Canucks being without six regulars including three starting d which they mentioned, and how the Canucks came away with a gutsy win. "Gutsy" being their word.
Matthias is playing the power forward role we want and need yet some are still not satisfied with his performance and efforts. He's a bargain for what he's providing the team. Better lock him up now for 4 years than have him walk away and sign with one of our western conference rivals such as the sharks or flames who would be improved with his addition as a solid power forward. |

He has size. Getting rid of Matthias and Kassian is not good for a team with playoff aspirations. - VanHockeyGuy
I'm not suggesting that we trade him. Just think that the jury is still out |

Might as well keep him, sitting in the pressbox.... only further devaluing what little if any value he has left.

What about bad defensive play and giveaways?
I do think it's hilarious that MacMillan is in over him, I don't agree with that at all. |

Honestly I wouldn't be apposed to giving him 3-3.5mil I just love his game that much, but I think he won't be asking for about 3mil. - pker2theend
I like the way he plays but IMO the sample size is just too small to warrant that kind of money. I would compare it with the Bickell contract, which IMO is a nightmare. Unless we are confident that we will have lots of cap space for the next few years then I think we need to be careful when we are paying someone who has not demonstrated consistency for multiple years |

Yeah, I would hope that Zach is back in tonight to keep things fresh. It's not like MacMillan was so super terrific and earned more ice time. |

MacMillan should have been playing his ass off last night and had an extra jump in his stride but instead he was barely noticeable. I hope it was just nerves otherwise he's a waste of a roster spot and should be waived when Bonino is back. |

Not a huge fan of MacMillan either but at the very least he plays a safe game, as opposed to Kassian who creates as many scoring opportunities for the opposition as he does for his own team. |

I agree and really Matthias still looks like a good 3rd liner who can move around a bit and has above average scoring ability. He isn't particularly very good defensively unless he is on the PK which is strange.
If he can be resigned at a decent price (2-2.5) and one of the other bottom 6 guys is moved out, I like it.
The Bickell contract is pretty bad, but he does bring a physical presence every night on that team, is it worth 4 mil no but I would rather a guy who bring size and physicality every night along with streaky scoring over a guy who is a streaky scorer who is good on the PK.

If Benning is still shopping him and listening to offers he (Kassian) may not see much ice in the next two weeks anyway...can't risk injury. |

Some B's fans were okay with trading Eriksson for Kassian and a pick. His value has dropped a lot. I wouldn't mind picking him up. |

Team has many players who are worse at creating/allowing scoring chances than Kassian, I don't know why he is the first player scratched but I assume it must have more to do with his attitude than his play.
I don't buy the he doesn't play physical enough argument either, 2nd in hits for forwards despite playing significantly fewer minute. Only Dorsett and Kenins have more hits per game as forwards.

I would rather go after Siedenberg if he really is available, I feel better about the forward depth than the D depth on this team. |

At forward? who?
At the start of the year Vey could be considered but now he far exceeds Kassian's defensive abilities .

Not even kidding how about kassian and a cap dump for cody Hodgson lol. Let's see if he can play well again with better players around him Gillis and a are gone. |

Vey was directly responsible for the first goal in the minesota game....he gives away the puck all the time...your definition of far exceeds is way off. |
