We were talking kassian here, not Vey - rune_74
While neither are strong in those departments, statistically Kassian has been worse in terms of quality shots against when on the ice, and what's really bad is that he's played a decent chunk of his minutes with our top pairing(Edler/Tanev). He's creating too many chances for the other team. I think he's a fine offensive player but he hurts the team just as much, if not more with bad defensive play, positioning and turnovers. |

Some B's fans were okay with trading Eriksson for Kassian and a pick. His value has dropped a lot. I wouldn't mind picking him up. - pker2theend
Trade project for project: Kassian for R. Smith |

Before I go sifting through the posts here I will write my take.
Horvat and Kenins: I haven't been that excited about a bottom 6 pairing since Burrows and Kesler came into the league. I see a lot of similarities in their young start.
Matthias: A team that has struggled over the years should not be trading off their second highest goal scorer. He plays better at centre , leave him there and find him proper linemates.
Next , even if this team loses 6 of its next 10 ( which won't happen), tank nation won't come out in full bloom. Last year's team everyone sucked and didn't put in a effort. Benning and WD will make sure their team hustles .
Trades: No need to hit a home run , just keep going forward . Out with the old ,in with the new, keep adding.
That's all for now |

That would be great if Benning can pull it off |

its really nice to see the boys get another "blue collar" win... Just wanted it more than the rangers...
That said, to say Miller looked shaky at times would be an understatement. The St. Louis goal? yuck.
I'm not a father, so I wouldn't know, but could the impending birth of his child be distracting him?!? - noisewater
When is the last time any Canuck fan had a win called a Blue Collar Win. |

At forward? who?
At the start of the year Vey could be considered but now he far exceeds Kassian's defensive abilities . - Whiskey-Tango
It depends how you define creating vs allowing scoring chances.
The NHL's uses (goals + shots + missed shots + team blocked shots) - ( goals against + shots against + misses shots against + team blocked shots againsts)
Dorsett, Horvat, Matthias, Vey, Hansen, Richardson are all worse and some by a large margin.
by +\- Kassian is the worst, I don't think it's a very good stat to look at game to game or season to season but over a a couple years it has some value.
If you want to go with the eye test, I'm sure you can say look Kassian had 3 give aways in a shift against minny and I can say look Vey had 2 give aways last night again the rangers. |

Not even kidding how about kassian and a cap dump for cody Hodgson lol. Let's see if he can play well again with better players around him Gillis and a are gone. - The_Kuze
He refuses to back check. Seriously, that's an awful deal |

Let's not go too far here. I am a Matthias fan but he is not a top 6 power forward yet. If he keeps up his accelerated pace then we may see him get 20 this season but he is also known for showing up in the spring but being absent for most of the year - bezz44
He is a third line Centre. Similar to Sutter. |

It's cool, they already accepted Higgins for Smith and due to age I'd prefer moving out Higgins |

If he is a 3rd line center why would we want him back

Yeah, I would hope that Zach is back in tonight to keep things fresh. It's not like MacMillan was so super terrific and earned more ice time. - 1970vintage

Have u seen McCann play? Kid is close. No reason why he can't play in horvat spot from this yr |

MacMillan should have been playing his ass off last night and had an extra jump in his stride but instead he was barely noticeable. I hope it was just nerves otherwise he's a waste of a roster spot and should be waived when Bonino is back. - Nucker101
Kennis was like that to in his first game . Barely noticable |

What about bad defensive play and giveaways?
I do think it's hilarious that MacMillan is in over him, I don't agree with that at all. - Nucker101
I think Willie is picking on him a bit |

if you are still using the WaronIce SC+\- Kassian is at -43, Vey is -56. Not that there is a big difference there, both have been bad. Then again Vrbata is a -34, which I find very surprising. |

I like the way he plays but IMO the sample size is just too small to warrant that kind of money. I would compare it with the Bickell contract, which IMO is a nightmare. Unless we are confident that we will have lots of cap space for the next few years then I think we need to be careful when we are paying someone who has not demonstrated consistency for multiple years - bezz44
I would rather pay him 3 mil than Higgins 2.5 |

I think we under value Higgins if I can even say that. He has been snake bit on the score sheet this season but he gives us his all every shift. He is great positionally and a beast on the PK. He has value. |
