I think we under value Higgins if I can even say that. He has been snake bit on the score sheet this season but he gives us his all every shift. He is great positionally and a beast on the PK. He has value.
- thundachunk

I agree, I just think he's a better fit on a team with a good top 6 that needs a winger for a shutdown/PK role. The Canucks aren't going anywhere far while he's here and need offense throughout the lineup to make up for not having a true 2nd line. I do think he's a better player than Kassian right now.

Vey was directly responsible for the first goal in the minesota game....he gives away the puck all the time...your definition of far exceeds is way off.
- rune_74

He is a rookie

9 goals 21 PTs. Creates scoring chances every game, unfortunately sometimes he creates scoring chances for both teams.

He will learn and get better

Definitely and he is signed to a very good contract, the problem is he is deployed as a 2nd line winger and has for the most part played with bottom 6 guys as well in that role.

If Matthias had been getting those 2nd line minutes all year and Higgins was playing on the 3rd I don't think anyone would complain about Higgins, rather we would be saying how Matthias doesn't deserve to be getting cushy minutes.

I agree and really Matthias still looks like a good 3rd liner who can move around a bit and has above average scoring ability. He isn't particularly very good defensively unless he is on the PK which is strange.

If he can be resigned at a decent price (2-2.5) and one of the other bottom 6 guys is moved out, I like it.

The Bickell contract is pretty bad, but he does bring a physical presence every night on that team, is it worth 4 mil no but I would rather a guy who bring size and physicality every night along with streaky scoring over a guy who is a streaky scorer who is good on the PK.

- belcherbd

Yea I was thinking along the lines of those numbers 2-2.5mil 2 years sounds about right
Bickell is a useful player but he is payed for his playoff performances which means that if he isn't performing up to snuff then he's basically David Booth minus all the injuries
Edit: I think my point was more that he is a third liner that is eating up significant cap and as a result the Hawks will be hard put to get their young talent locked up and that is not a position I think we want to be in with Matthias

If we can get a 2nd + for Mathias you sell high on him

Top 10 I would consider bottom 15 probably not

Exactly, he is a victim of circumstance. I really like Higgins

I actually think his play along the walls has improved drastically in the offensive zone from the start of the season. He is still a little easy to knock off the puck but he gets in there and generates fairly well off the cycle for a smaller guy

I do as well, but I would still move him or Matthias for the sake of opening up a roster spot for Kenins or whoever moving forward.

Yup, sooner or later you want these spots to go to young, cheap kids with some upside

Have u seen McCann play? Kid is close. No reason why he can't play in horvat spot from this yr
- Bieksa#3

I don't think you want to bank on that. But also, from what we have heard from Willie, he was not happy to have a 19y/o Horvat in his lineup. I think we have to assume that Bo is the exception, not the rule. If he plays his way into the lineup during training camp then that is a different story

I'll keep the twenty goals , you can keep the second round pick.

He is big, he drives the net and he scores. Not bad for a third liner

I look at him as a risky signing because so much of his production has come in the last few games. IMO if you can get him locked up now and he doesn't want too much, then do it. But if he is asking for 3m or more with term then you sell high.
Edit: 6 goals in last 7 games - take away the hat trick and he is on pace for maybe 15, in line with the rest of his seasons

poop if we throw in something else we might pick up a late first. Teams are not as hesitant to trade picks as we had assumed it seems

I think kassian deserves a few breaks. Has a 5 game pt streak. Misses one and sits. Why doesn't Vey ever sit? He too lacks effort sometimes
