poop if we throw in something else we might pick up a late first. Teams are not as hesitant to trade picks as we had assumed it seems

Yep. How about Tampa. A big guy on their 3rd line? Slater Kouskousk?

I think kassian deserves a few breaks. Has a 5 game pt streak. Misses one and sits. Why doesn't Vey ever sit? He too lacks effort sometimes
- Bieksa#3

Kassian is to WD what Ballard was to AV.

I look at him as a risky signing because so much of his production has come in the last few games. IMO if you can get him locked up now and he doesn't want too much, then do it. But if he is asking for 3m or more with term then you sell high.
- bezz44

I will play Devils Advocate. He plays the PK just like Higgins , is probably about 4 years younger . He needs 6 more goals in 27 games to reach the 20 mark, but we don't want to pay him half a million more than Higgins who is sitting on 6 goals .

We want to trade him for a second round pick to get a draft pick who might hopefully play in the NHL and score 20 goals.

Matthias has been utilized properly this year with the Canucks unlike in FLA and seems to be finding his game on a much more frequency. He fits in well with the team and is the teams second leading goal scorer.

Sorry I say sign him

That's what I was thinking about Kenins... Kenins' plays a game I thought Kassian was going to bring.

Kenins - 6'-0" 201lbs

Kassian - 6' 3" 215lbs

I'm keeping a 2nd +. We have enough 3rd liners

The reason we are winning lately is more because of our bottom 6 IMO

Some B's fans were okay with trading Eriksson for Kassian and a pick. His value has dropped a lot. I wouldn't mind picking him up.

I wouldnt let the B's fans set the scale for value to be honest.

What about bad defensive play and giveaways?

I do think it's hilarious that MacMillan is in over him, I don't agree with that at all.

They have to play him for a look at least once tho...

Before I go sifting through the posts here I will write my take.

Horvat and Kenins: I haven't been that excited about a bottom 6 pairing since Burrows and Kesler came into the league. I see a lot of similarities in their young start.

Matthias: A team that has struggled over the years should not be trading off their second highest goal scorer. He plays better at centre , leave him there and find him proper linemates.

Next , even if this team loses 6 of its next 10 ( which won't happen), tank nation won't come out in full bloom. Last year's team everyone sucked and didn't put in a effort. Benning and WD will make sure their team hustles .

Trades: No need to hit a home run , just keep going forward . Out with the old ,in with the new, keep adding.

That's all for now

Good post. I'm happy to see you changed your stance on a couple of things. Nothing wrong with that... things are forever changing on this team that never changes.

There has to be more to it. WD doesn't come across as a wiener who needs a whipping boy.... or do we just not know what he's like behind the bench and assume he's not... I don't know but Kassians last two scratches have come at a time that he was at least producing offense.

He was forced by benning to put horvat on the team. And honestly I still think horvat should be used more.
Think about it the young guys who get a shot are the guys he knows. Sits Corrado for Weber or Stanton or Sbisa.
Vey is the only kid who constantly is allowed to make mistakes. There might be some AV in willie

Alright vantel. But what about when he plays well? I got no problem sitting him for being non existent. But why when he's playing well. AV and torts didn't do that

Vey was directly responsible for the first goal in the minesota game....he gives away the puck all the time...your definition of far exceeds is way off.
- rune_74

Vey has some issues defensively but will be fine over the long haul. Regardless of that he comes to play every night where Kassian...not so much.

Vey's upside right now is having more team impact...doesn't matter if anyone thinks Kassian is a better player or not.

Horvat is getting 15 min a night. That is plenty for a rookie.

Vey also creates more opportunities than Kassian. The fact that he is allowed to make mistakes as Sbisa does, and not sat down says a lot about a coach.

Kassian has gone through this with 4 coaches, and has had multiple spottings of being places he should not be. At some point you have to wonder is the problem the player.

Canucks are on a playoff battle and I think WD plays and hands out the ice time to the players that give him the best chance

And what did I say about players he knows? Vey? Sbisa?

Horvat has 15 min a night rookie year. If you bump it up to 20 min a night you will risk injury or burn out.

It his last 11 games that he is producing at this rate. The first part of the year he had very little offense. His game is developing just fine and if he keeps up this pace , I am sure he will be rewarded soon.
