More Kassian for Bergenheim crap from Ek...

I pray to God that Benning isn't even considering something like that.

Thanks. He's not worth the risk of giving up what it is going to cost to land him.

Agreed, plus his concussion history scares the poop outta me. Imagine him in a series vs STL/LA/ANA...huge risk right there.

i think he would get eaten alive in the West.

But he might be worth the risk depending how cheap you can get him. I imagine the asking price is a bit suppressed due to the injury history and salary

I dunno about that. They are dreaming in what they are asking for in the Sekera "sweepstakes". I don't imagine it would be any different for Skinner.

Hard to tell, there are lots of undersized skill guys who are very successful in the west.

Kane, Seguin, Pavelski, Steen, Schwartz, Little, Forsberg, Ribeiro, Hudler, Gaudreau all are of a similar stature and are able to produce in the west.

People said similar things about Evander Kane and look at what Buffalo paid.

Concussion + small guys is a major red flag though.

Yup, Kane has some of the size intangibles that increase value as well, his injuries have not been concussion based but I agree, he likely gets more than what we would be willing to move.

The two are very different players IMO. Teams will always overpay for a powerforward it seems.

plus Kane's injury history has nothing to do with his head so my guess most teams don't have much concern about his health going forwards whereas with skinner the cloud of concussions will always hang over him since he's had so many at a young age and the more you have the more susceptible you are to getting them again

I agree, I just don't think I buy that small guys have a harder time in the west than the east. I think you need to be able to play both sides of the puck more in the west but think you can do that and be small. Skinner has never been great defensively but hasn't been Kessel bad IMO.

Looks like most of you came to the same conclusion as I did on the Bergenheim situation while I was writing today's blog!

That, and the scene-set for today's game, now live:

I think he deserves a second look/chance. Didn't show up last game.
