I think Detroit is most likely. I pass on him, we don't need him for the cost it will take to get him when we have in house options that can step in and play decent (Dumoulin)
I'd rather use those assets to land Jordan Staal, although it won't happen even after the year.
Edit: maybe if he had one more year after this year I would think about it. We do need one more defenseman for next year, but i think we can sign a 3 mil 2 year guy who can play just fine on the bottom pairing or so.
Letang-Maatta
Pouliot-Despres
Scuderi-Dumoulin
Maybe buy out Scuds and save ~2 million to use for that defenseman unless they don't think the UFA would be an upgrade over Scuds. |

The Penguins might choke, but nothing like your Blues.

This could hurt us if indeed we consider moving Ehrhoff to Dallas as reported yesterday....
This could help us if it brings down the asking price on a guy like Petry.

I thought that trade offer was last month for Ehrhoff. Also have to get him to waive his NMC even if they wanted to trade him. Looking at how they weren't even considering moving Martin, doubt they would feel much differently about Ehrhoff. Maybe if Maatta were healthy.

God no.
Ehrhoff would have to be for someone like Cole/Roussel/Eakin/Ritchie...thought I cant see JR moving Ehrhoff after season the defense without him. |

Yea, it was last month (according to the sources...which are sketchy to begin with). But if there is interest, you never know if it circles back around. JR said he talked about the Perron deal with Edmonton for like 3-4 weeks. |

I missed that report... Why in the world would Ehrhoff agree to go there and out of the playoffs? |

Because apparently no one can remember that he has an NMC.
If they're after a cheaper right handed defenseman, I'd be okay with bringing back Z. Pending UFA, should come cheap, he and Martin are already familiar with each other and they might get better play out of Ehrhoff if he's playing with Tanger.
I know Z had some struggles in Pittsburgh, but he wasn't built for Bylsma's system. He's more of a make the simple play kind of puck moving defenseman, he didn't have the decisiveness to make the stretch pass.
All that said, I don't see how they add a defenseman and make the money work. |

It really is difficult to imagine them making a big enough move that would create enough cap space to bring in any player with a cap hit over $2 million. I won't be surprised if we go out and make a small move for somebody around $1 million in cap hit. I also won't be surprised if we stand pat and make no more moves. But anything more than one of those two options, I would be surprised. |

And even if he didn't have a full NMC, trading a guy like him isn't smart. Ehrhoff took less than market value to come here for one year.
You don't want to screw a guy like that over and send him out of the playoffs. Word gets around quickly, you want to be able to attract the the next guy in his position.

That's the funny thing... This fool keeps coming here every week to post the same thing about choking and he's a Blue's fan. Not sure there's another team in the league that has choked more than them. Maybe San Jose... |

Heard Stan Fish talking about players on the market last night. He seemed to think the Caps trading Mike Green was gonna happen. If they did so, I wonder what that would do to their PP? IMO Green and Ovi make that work with their ability to get one timer bombs off. Take one away, you could focus more on Ovi on the 1/2 wall.
He sais Isles were looking for both offensive defenseman help and FW help. I didn't understand that.
Isles are loaded at FW. As far as their D goes, they need one more guy back there and they're a Cup favorite IMO. Preferably a thumper type. They still have issues clearing their crease. |

I hope you're joking about Hemsky. He's soft, injury prone, inconsistent and has 2 more years at $4mil

That's pretty much why everyone wants Sekera. He's got a very reasonable cap hit. But that means there's going to be a bidding war for him.
And I think the days of trading with Columbus are over now that they're established as a rival. |
