Anything over 2.5mil is too much IMO
- bezz44

With Vey this year, and Sven being waiver eligible next year we may have no choice put to let some older guys walk/trade.

TSN site has 2015 2nd not 2017
- Linden_4_Capt

That sucks if true, a lot of good 2nd rounders available this year and now this team only has a 1 pick in the first 90-105

It's possible Benning might acquire more picks prior to the TDL.

We'll exhaust the topic in an hour with this group.

Bieksa for Despres should have been our trade of the day. It's a much better return for PIT than Lovejoy and would have instantly rejuvenated our D core. Plus KB probably would have waived for PIT.

- AlexF

Bieksa's got a broken hand right? I don't think a GM is going to take that gamble this late in the season. They need bodies to play now.

Plus benning said in the SUN this weekend that Bieksa is the 'heart and soul' of this team. I take that as Benning seeing value in KB. I think KB is here to stay.

I agree, its just a shame if know that is going to happen that you don't flip some for picks while you can with some UFA's. It is a tightrope that Benning has to walk with playoffs one side and the future on the other.

As long as he maintains it.
- A_SteamingLombardi

He shouldn't be expected to maintain that pace. Stretched out over an 82 game season that is 60 points from a rookie who is expected to be a bottom 6 player

Yep, definitely going to be an interesting summer. I think Pedan is eligible next year too

Of course it is possible but much easier to recoup on in 2016 or 2017.

My 2 key takeaways from this deadline.
1. We did not get older.
2. We did NOT trade with Panthers.

I think he has already proved he has the hockey sense and physical ability to play in the NHL full time, he doesn't need to keep the scoring up to stay but does need to keep playing smart and laying the body.

Yes, I agree. And if he keeps scoring like this then who knows, maybe there will be a spot for him in the top 6. Maybe he will be our Palat

Ironically this might have the first year when the Panthers had something enticing to send back.

Benning will acquire more picks. Guaranteed. Just look at the trades he made at the draft last year.

If he does and get over 50 points; does he become Calder consideration?

Would like to see Benning package a player + our 1st rounder to move up in the draft but it'll be especially tough this year I'd imagine.

Any rookie that gets 50 points would have to be at least in consideration.
