You are fighting a losing battle, good luck

It's amazing how some people still don't realize the hundreds of players who put up decent CHL numbers and never become full-time NHL'ers. I'm stil waiting for Mallet to become the next Burrows and I thought Hodgson was our Toews.

Is Benning confusing Swiss with Swedes?
- stevekariya

It is strange we have Weber, Sbisa and now Baertschi

Maybe Benning thinks he has discovered some untapped well of Swiss players.

He's a year older as well, doesn't seem like much but it's a big difference at the CHL level. I wouldn't be pencilling him or holding my breath until he produces in the AHL.
- Nucker101

I won't be happy till either produce in the NHL.

I just mean excitement though, unless it's a first round player drafted fairly highly I usually stay sceptical until they show something in the AHL.

Not in his draft year or draft +1

Cassells was 43 in 64 in draft year and 73 in 61 in his +1

McCann was 62 in 64 in draft and is currently 75 in 52.

- belcherbd

Cassels has been suspended a bunch this season. he has only played 48 games this season. He's got a nasty side.

Chad Johnson @ochocinco
11 please, preferably all gold... RT @BuffaloSabres: .@ochocinco What size skates should we get you?

- belcherbd

He is a funny guy in general. I met him in Miami a few years ago and he came and sat with us and had beers and lunch. If you did not know him you would not be able to tell he is a Pro athlete. Very humble and funny as hell.

I remember him having a good run with the Flames a few years ago when he was an emergency call up due to injuries.

I remember that too. Odd how quickly his star had fallen in CGY when his underlying numbers looked solid. As mentioned previously, it almost looks like there were "irreconcilable differences" between player and coach.

Honestly he seems like a bigger, more intelligent Brad Marchand
Edit: which is awesome btw - BM's skill set is hellah useful

Who says we are not following Bruins model.
McCann- Bergeron
Virtanen- Lucic
Cassels - BM
Bo- Kreichi
Pedan- Chara

The building blocks are there. We just need few more pieces and need to get the refs to like us.

I think one of the main things I took away from today's deal is that Benning doesn't appear to have any biases. I know that at the draft those of us who wanted Ehlers were worried that Benning had a serious size bias, but trading for Baertschi says otherwise. He also isn't afraid to draft from Russia. I like the way this management group conducts its target+acquire transactions

The old "change in scenery" might be just what the kid needs.

I remember when that Bishop to Tampa trade happened and I thought it seemed like the Sens were stealing Conacher. But he hasn't done much since. Hope the whole change in scenery thing works for him too.

Maybe with a good AHL team these guys will get their confidence up and make some steps in development.

Marchand is a POS but he is a very useful scorer and is good defensively as well.

Baertschi is listed at 5.11, I think Conacher proves your point even more at 5.08
