Well I think after jbs comments yesterday it won't be higgins - Bieksa#3
The obvious one I'd say is Richardson... I don't so how we don't sign Mathias and dorsett... And the way hansen plays with Bo and kenins that makes no sense

Well as of now they have then following forwards:
Henrik
Daniel
Burrows
Vrbata
Bonino
Kassian
Higgins
Horvat
Hansen
Matthias(UFA)
Vey
Richardson(UFA)
Kenins
Dorsett(UFA)
That's 14 forwards, 15 if you include Baertschi for next year. I think there's a really high chance we see one of the signed veteran forwards traded at the draft.

I'd bet quite a bit that Richardson will not be on this roster next season. There will probably be more shuffling than just Richardson, but it's tough to read Benning after his Higgins comments.

We could probably get Richards for cheap since he's been out the whole season, but cap isn't really our main problem here

With so many teams tight against the cap this Sumner, a guy like bonino might be a nice chip.
Thank god, we've got Benning...Gillis left us in a position where we would have been = to, if not worse than Toronto/Edmonton. - I-own_da-Northwest
This was discussed yesterday. There are quite a few MG players on this roster; Horvat, Kassian, Kenins, Matthias, Corrado, Stanton, Tanev, Weber, Lack, and Markstrom.
When you look at it, MG definitely left his mark on this team, whether it’s good or bad, that is debatable.

He was our GM for 6 seasons. Short of inheriting a stellar team full of 24 year olds it would be impossible not to have left an imprint of his own over that period of time. Heck even Burke still has residue on this team.

I think it will be Richie and Burr, I know Burrows seems like a long shot but he also would make the most sense to trade

Sure, but MG's acquisitions are contributing, especially while core players are out. I'm not an MG fan or apologist. Happy he's gone but if fans are going to pile-on then let's look at the entire picture.
I don't think he was the worst GM in canuck history. Middle of the road if you ask me.

Agreed. Any GM that takes a team to a cup final has something going for him, even if it was largely staying the course with the inherited roster and topping up where required, which is a decision in its own right.
I am thankful he was let go when he was as I don't believe he had the right mindset to revamp this team, which is what was required even before his time was up. I wonder if he'll get another gig somewhere else or just fade into GM memory.

Pretty sure it'll take more than that to get both Schenns. I'd only want the one anyway - Brayden - who would be an upgrade at 2C. - AlexF
Need a calendar?
Agreed that Burrows' time has passed here. It's just that his contract may dictate otherwise. - AlexF
I think you are prolly right about Burrows. Its like the Canucks are actually paying owsies for past performance and previous under payment. Might not be so bad the longer it goes. I do like what he brings.

I also don't think he's as bad as some make him out to be now that he's been fired. But MG's not the right GM for a rebuilding team. I feel like Benning is more draft/prospect-orientated and doesn't overvalue his assets in trades, better GM for the Canucks current situation. We'll see how good his scouting eye and scouting system is though.
Did you guys all watch/hear his interview with TSN 1040 yesterday? He goes into some detail about what he looks for in prospects and such, some interesting stuff. There's a link to it on Youtube.

I heard parts of it and was very impressed.
"We brought Derek Dorsett in to change the culture of the locker room."
Don't see Higgins going anywhere but think Richardson will be gone.
I'm just saying that many of the moves that he made weren't as bad as they were made out to be, and many of the ones that were bad were fan approved. - golfingsince
No kidding, I remember when some people were higher on Ballard than Hamhuis and were bowing down to Gillis for the Booth deal. And many(including myself) hated the Kassian-Hodgson deal.
