Pouliot most likely but Scuderi or Cole would be my choices.
It's time to shuffle the lines a little bit. Why not try Beau for a couple games with Kunitz and Malkin. We only would Make our bottom lines harder to play against.
Comeau took two bad penalties Last night. |

Max Lapierre ....... Still waiting on this “grit” factor from him as well. - Ryan_Wilson
Good luck finding any. Why do you think the Blues got rid of his sorry behind?

Pouliot and or Cole... they will likely split time so Pouliot can rest some going into the playoffs. After Maatta was gassed last year I would bet they want to ensure Pouliot isn't tired for a post season run. |

I agree but as soon as MJ sits Pouliot people will lose their minds saying we have to give our young players a chance. |

I thought Cole played quite well....obviously a 1 game sample size though.
Still not sold on Comeau with Geno. As Ryan has pointed out, once his shooting percentage comes back down to earth and he's not scoring, he doesn't help Geno all that much. I agree with that. He can win some board battles and maintain possession but he doesn't have the quick hands or speed that Geno would ideally have in a linemate. Will be interesting to see how the top 6 plays out as we're still going to heavily rely on them to do the scoring. |

They had no reason to move Comeau from Geno's side with that high shooting percentage... but its been cooling off since it wasn't sustainable, so might see Bennett get time up during this road trip. Last night was a really bad mark on Comeau, but I don't want any decisions based off of one game. |

I actually think now that the 4th line wingers are Bennett and Spaling, Goc would be better suited for that role. Nonetheless, he's noted as a playoff guy so fingers crossed Lappy can pick it up a bit in the playoffs. |

Was at the game last night, pretty much a waste of money. Still had a good time though.
Tanguay had his 1000th game and there was a ceremony. His wife is smoking hot!
Sutter is pretty awful.
BB is not a NHL player. His 1 chance in the O zone he just collapses and slides into the corner. Id almost say Adams > BB at this point.
Pouliott played a decent game but got smoked by Landeskog.
Lovejoy had a pretty bad play on a CO chance, but looked fine. Nothing he did made me miss Despres.
87 was pretty much a non factor.
71 was a non factor as well until a lucky break and he scores. Then the Pens gave about 2 mins of watchable hockey. I read these boards last night, everyone was like Oh Geno Machino! he gave 2 shifts of effort last night.
Pens got completely outplayed by a team 10 pts out of the playoffs. They will not get past NYR, DET, NYI, Caps, MTL.

I'd still like to see Perron be given an extended chance on Malkins left side.

Agreed. I think in addition to what Ryan said about needing more shot suppression we also need to play more disciplined. Can't make those lapses in judgment come playoff time and it's plagued us all year. |

I would love to see this. Sadly, I don't think they make the move for Sutter to go 4c. I also think they would use Winnik at center, as Spaling hasn't played any really this year and Winnik has. |

I agree with everything you just said except this.
Beau is an NHL player, but he is not a bottom 6 player; end of story. His skill set is as a top 6 forward, he just cant crack our top 6.
Our team is built to play in the playoffs, good ole JR built it that way and has stated it many times.
Lappy, Winnik, Cole, Comeau, and Downie are going to make life a living hell in the playoffs for who ever we play.
Our success rests on the shoulders of 87 & 71, if they can bring it; consistently, I love our chances.

BB looks worse in person, soft as they come, a gentle breeze could take the puck from him. If he were top 6 they would move Comeau down, he's really nothing special.
The bottom 6 still is a bunch of plugs minus Downie. Spaling, Sutter, BB, Winnick, those guys are a dime a dozen.
If the Pens can't get fired up for a bad Av's team after a few nights off, their problems run pretty deep. |

If Erhoff can play, who sits? - hipcheck_goalie
Here's my two cents: Scuderi. If the coaching staff was smart, anyways...
Let's look at it. Before the deadline our D core was this:
Letang-Martin
Hoff-Pouliot
Scuderi-Despres
We need a decent amount of experience come playoffs so even if you believe Dumoulin could be a better option, it would be dumb to sit Scuderi for a pretty much rookie. The combination of Pouliot, Despres, and Domoulin would account for too many boneheaded, rookie-like plays that would lead to too many scoring chances for the other team. With this d core, Scuderi is necessary.
But at the deadline we added a solid vet presence in Lovejoy, and a regular NHLer with a decent amount of experience in Cole. What is Scuderi's function anymore?
Letang-Martin
Hoff-Pouliot
Lovejoy-Cole
That's a very experienced group right there. We have three vets, two in-their-prime guys, and a youngster, all of which are better than Scuderi. The experience of the other five guys combined with the good he can do will more than cover for Pouliot's mistakes. The whole you can't sit that much money argument is absurd. Yes you can. Even if we play Scuderi we can't move him. He's sunk cost at this point. We should be thinking about how to get the cup, not how to maximize a terrible contract. |

what does all that mean? this chart, that chart? it's all bs. Get out there and play, the charts are meaningless. |

Right because clearly the fact that top possession teams have regularly been winning the cup for the last few years is completely meaningless.
While it doesnt take a fancy graph to know that Zack Sill, Craig Adams, Max Lapierre, or Brandon Sutter stink, it is certainly useful to have meaningful stats beyond G and A to compare them to other players.
A lot of good grit does you when the Choke and Clutch era drains away all the ability to score goals from your top 2 players..... |

His shooting percentage has come down a little bit, but he's still at 12.5% since coming back from the injury, and his shots per game and points per game are both a little higher. |

F Sutter - nbartley9 He only has 1 more point than Olli Maata. I don't think he cracks many top 6's.

Comeau is a 3rd liner, playing a 2nd line role effectively, but that doesn't take away the fact that he is a 3rd liner. |

I think people are confusing what am saying, Beau isn't playing well. But he is a top 6 talent, he does not have the attributes to play anywhere else in any line up. Either he plays top 6 or he doesn't play. |
