Longtime avi of a much beloved poster, who for reasons unknown has discarded the pooch and chosen to use a new one. I guarantee your posts will generate a great deal more reaction with the pooch avi (based on the good will developed by the prior owner) than with the tank hug avi.

How many times has the last place team won the lottery?

How many times has #29 won it?

Anyone know?

I finally caught up on the comments from last night/this morning and listened to Howard Simon melt down in what could be described as epic fashion.

I am taking the approach of a few in that we cannot control this thing. I am disappointed that we won, but it shouldn't have happened with how the Bruins played. Murray has explicitly said that he is not telling Nolan who to play and I doubt that changes now. Nolan will still do what he wants. It is completely out of our hands, and worrying about it is not going to help. All we can do is wait for this to play out. It's the longest rollercoaster I have ever been on, and I am most certainly ready for it to be over.

THIS IS SO WELL WRITTEN AND THOUGHT OUT, I COULDN'T AGREE MORE!

I am ALL-IN on going FULL-ON TANK mode ORGINIZATIONALLY, but to literally, blatantly, make constant ON-ICE DECISIONS in order to harm your teams chances of winning a NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE REGULAR SEASON GAME is simply NOT WHAT I WANT TO BE A PART OF, THAT STIGMA HAS NEVER BEEN A PART OF BUFFALO'S FINEST MOMENTS nor ITS MOST HORRIFIC WOES, and while I desperately would LOVE one of these generational talents, I will NOT stoop to following a FRANCHISE that intentionally fixes a game. I believe it is TOTALLY FAIR TO PREPARE A SQUAD OF PLAYERS WHICH YOU BELIEVE WILL NOT WIN, STRIP ANY STRONG PLAYING PLAYER FROM THE TEAM FOR FUTURES, EVEN TRADE ENNIS FOR SOMETHING LESS VALUABLE, all of this I can admit to wanting to happen, defending our philosophy of "REBUILDING".
We TRUE Buffalo sports fans a tough bunch, we've been punched in the gut more than most other sports franchises combined! "Music City Miracle" "No Goal" "Wide Right" "Flyers Playoff Goal Went Through the Net On Replay" "Monday Night Meltdown DALLAS Wins" , I could go on and on! We have been the ROCK upon which the WATERS have crashed and yet we STILL STAND, FULLY ready to CHEER and BE HEARD(Andre's Hall Speech)!

I truly believe we now have something BIGGER and MORE TRIUMPENT than all-most ANY NHL or NFL team has. "Mr. and Mrs. PEGULA!!!!" What they have woven into this community within so short of time, their undaunted Spirit when going after an NFL Franchise, HEARTs as big and beautiful as the VERY ESSENCE of what it MEANS to be a BUFFALO SPORTS FAN.
That is why WE , The Long-Suffering, ALWAYS faithful, TOUGHENED, UNDAUNTED BUFFALO SPORTS FANS will NOT cower at the upcoming event of determining draft order for 2015! We WILL, as always has been, Scrap our Ice Covered Windows, Shovel our steps for the Mailman, SnowBlow a Neighbor's Driveway, Raise more charity $ per capita than ANY other city, Expect our Teams to Play HARD no matter what.
I know I would have been proud to tell me son the story of how on a cold winter night my fiancé, myself, mother and father grasped hands together before Norwood kicked, and as it sailed we hoped, we flew, and WON our 1st SUPERBOWL! But that's not the story I told my son recently. My son is 13 and going through some tough growing pains, and it made me think of Don Beebe. I told him the story of how our Buffalo Bills went to FOUR straight SuperBowls, a feat not matched to this day, NEVER gave up, NEVER cowered or GAVE IN, Our BOYS Play it to the bitter end, as an average, speedy, little receiver ran with every once of effort he had, in a game completely decided long before, ran 80 yards in the opposite direction to stretch and knockout the football from the Dancing Dallas Cowboy at the 1 yard line!
If our team does not end up with (McDavid) or (Echel) as our stud center, I know that the TRUE Buffalo Sports Fan will, CHEER, ENCOURAGE, SUPPORT our teams and know that having the PEGULA'S as our owners is A GREATER GIFT BY FAR!
We will hold a STANLEY CUP and the VINCE LOMBARDI TROPHY! It will happen I believe it and I LOVE IT!

I think the Buffalo in us has us thinking that we will lose hold on 30th. While it could certainly happen, at this point we are still in the driver seat. All 3 teams are bad. The Oilers are least likely to finish last. Even with Lindback's .930+ sv% we only have 1 win to show for it. We stink. So does Az. Too many seem to assume we will win both head to head matchups. Buffalo has shown little to prove they can beat any team twice in the same week.

I know it's buffalo and we feel cursed. We're not. I still like our chances.

We will win both Arizona games. Their GM publicly stated they were tanking. They are lucky to score one goal in a game.

Maybe each team will play with 6 skaters, and it will be the highest scoring game in the history of the NHL. Or the lowest... 0-0 goes to a shootout. 50 rounds before someone loses control of the puck and it goes in.

But like Buffalo their players aren't tanking. Both of their goalies have played well. We can't score either. That's all that matters. We will get out shot by 10+ both games. Az wins one, I'd bet

Nolan clearly doesn't care about that. He's going to ride Lindback in at least 11/12 games.

Interesting aside: on the money line sabres were favored to win only 4 times last year and zero times this year. The home Az game is likely their only chance to be favored.

In thinking about someone's comment, that I couldn't find (read too lazy to look to quote) or it was in some other medium, about the whole Arizona team, management and coaching staff buying into the tank... isn't that collusion? I mean, if the team is deliberately trying not to win games, isn't that unethical?

I guess the collusion would be if management told the team to throw games.

I think collusion is two teams cooperating to produce a result they both want, instead of both competing to be better. So it might be "collusion" if they could prove the Yotes were actively cooperating with other teams to help them win, but I can't see "not trying their hardest to win" as the same as "cooperating with the other team" and wonder how they would ever prove it, anyway.

That's a good point as well. It would have to be the Sabres going out with every intention of letting them win, or having some sort of wire to hear Maloney offering a split in winning the games.

That seems way too complicated.
