I still think Buffalo finishes last. Yotes will get a win in one of their next 3 at home. All they need to do then is split the two games with Buffalo and win one other game. That would be 9 points to overcome. I don't see the Sabres winning 5 out of 12.

I'll take the point from the Oil, but it isn't them I have been worried about. I have been saying for months that is was AZ that we had to worry about. Then they get ahead of us by 12 and everyone was writing them off, but I kept saying that they were going to be trouble because they were going to sell everything at the deadline, and they did.

Now, not only can they not win, but they can't even score. They are dominated every game and, if they are lucky enough to get a goal, that is never going to be enough. Any points from them the rest of the way will be a miracle. If you want to see a team that really knew what they had to do to finish last, it was going to be them.

AZ is so much worse than we are it isn't even close. They can't score, so they can't win. 3 our of their last 30+ available points??????? That is how you finish last.

But go ahead Nolan....play the red hot goalie EVERY SINGLE GAME and screw us out of the top 2 picks. These wins will sure build character for next year (for half the team that won't even be on this team next season) while we watch McEichel dominate the league for the next 15 years.

You gotta think they have a couple/three more wins in them. They have what, 10 games left. I think at least 3 wins isn't out of the question. So that puts them up 10. We aren't winning 5 of 12.

Phoenix? Well, yikes. They won't lose 11 in a row, but probably won't win more than 2, maybe squeeze a loser point in. So I'll give them 5 points in last 11 games. That puts them up 8.

As long as we don't win more than 4 of 12, we're good.

We are like 3-5-2 or whatever recently. That continues, 6-7 wins is not out of the question..... We try. We have hot goaltending no matter who plays. We get the absolute worst bounces that result in goals for us. Getting points we don't deserve. Nothing is going our way.

There is no reason, right now, to think that we will win less than 6 the rest of the way.

I mentioned earlier about obviously wanting an opportunity at one of those big two centers. even if just to trade the pieces for huge hauls.

but if we walk away from the draft with hanifin, and he and nurse get to play in the farm together next year, ill be very satisfied

I get the fear, I really do. That win against Boston was so pointless and undeserved. Everyone is worrying about Arizona, and rightfully so. I watch almost all of their games though, and I can say that yes, they are having trouble scoring. They are not worse than the Sabres though. They aren't any better probably, but the notion that they are just so much worse than Buffalo is laughable. Since the trade deadline in 7 games they have only outshot their opponent 2 times. But the Sabres have only outshot their opponent 5 times ALL SEASON. Out of 70 games.

no disrespect intended and none should be taken as sabres management did this by design, but the notion that buffalo is far better than anybody is kinda silly. theyre not.

but I can understand the concern, especially when youre in it. and youre so close to 2 franchise changing talents.
but from the outside looking in with no bias ( I neither hate nor love either of the sabres or the yotes) id say youre good to go.

I'm not a huge advanced stats guy, but since the trade deadline the Sabres still have the worst 5-on-5 Corsi in the league. They are a -168 and the Yotes are only a -40, which places them only 7th worst. Oh, and by the way, another team in the bottom 3 in Corsi is Colorado, who the Coyotes play tonight. I would not be at all surprised if Arizona gets at minimum 1 point tonight.
