I think the biggest problem with a lot of us sabres fans is we want to believe in the best case scenario with our players but not want to recognize the bad. All I hear is we have tons of prospects already so we don't need a mceichel. The reality is most of those prospects won't amount to much of anything. Sure there will be some surprises but statistics say more than half our 2nd rd picks don't ever even do anything.

I hear we can be a Pittsburg or Chicago. Well both those teams have two ELITE forwards on their teams. Without mcheichel we have zero. And please stop comparing Reinhart to Jonathan toews. I like Reinhart. A lot. But he is not toews. Toews is arguably the best player in the league, Reinhart is good but no one should be comparing him to that.

The LA model? Sure we are on that track But everyone thinks we will be awesome and on the path next year without mcheichel. LA had tons of picks like us, we are in no ways "ahead" of their model. Hell it took 7 years after they took their #1 center in kopitar to win the cup. I think this is our path but we have years to go. We are only in year #3 in our rebuild.

And stop with Detroit didn't have to do it with picks so we don't either. Detroit had a hall of famer and top 10 player all time in Steve Yzerman centering their team to cups along with a 2nd center in hall of famer Sergei Federov. Also they were blue lined by maybe the best defenseman ever in Lidstrom. You don't even need to draft with those guys on your team. Plus they got top end free agents during that time. Their 2nd run still had lindstrom along with datsuk and zetterberg who yes were late picks but with today's scouting would be top 5 picks.

Strome and marner will be a disappointment but will be good. Unfortunately we will have a few more years of suffering ahead of us :/
