Now here I am thinking that they brought Grig-O up (under the guise of development) to further the "tank"...
Don't tell me he's gonna heat up now!! |

Nice read, again Mike. I missed the game (friggin sister in law party).
I know I sound like a broken record on this one, but you write it up as if Grigo had a breakthrough game. Do you think he'll get more than 13:00 next game, and someone other than Jerry D'Amigo to set up on the breakaway? |

What drives me nuts is Nolan loves to point these mistakes out when they are committed by youngsters, but where is he when Mesazaros, Strachen, and Benoit are making the exact same mistakes. All I ask is for Nolan to be consistent and he isn't when it comes to veterans vs. younger players. |

idk...Larsson was totally engaged a few games before he got the opportunity...no reason to think that Grigorenko won't need to do the same |

Sounds like Zadarov is playing like he is afraid to make a mistake. Not all players develop well with the "beat down " motivation tactics . |

he did not need to point out zadorov's mistake last night...it was painfully obvious to everyone...
those vets you mentioned are who they are and they're here for a reason...the youngins represent the future |

A couple of things
Most of the vets, especially those cited above won't be here next year...why waste time on them.
This year is all about developing younger players who will be here long term...with a focus on learning defensive responsibility first before offensive prowess....in my mind that and learning a high compete level are what young players need to learn 1st and foremost. Get the fundamentals down early so they are rock solid in the foundation before building on a weak structure
That is very sound player development.
Tough-love works...and is necessary for SOME players...like kids...some listen, others need a blatant kick in the a$$. You don't hear him talking to/about Risto and Girgs that way...I under if it has to do with the difference in implementing what the coaches are instructing....yes, fore sure.
Consistency in coaching is the opposite of what great coaches do...they find each players buttons and play to that for each.
Zads and Gringo apparently need kicks.
More so, in fairness to ther young players, why should Gringo get opportunity after opportunity when he comes out soft on the initial 2or 3 shifts...F that, play like you want it, not like you're entitled to it.
I support Nolan's approach with these certain players and not tolerating lackadaisical play...it's the friggin NHL now, not the Q |

I understand where you're coming from, but Nolan's comments are usually responses to questions. How many reporters are dying to get the scoop on mez and Benoit? |
