Does anyone know why Anthony Richard is rated so low by Central Scouting? He put up 43 goals and 48 assists for Val-d'Or this year and is rated 103 out of North American skaters. - aflyerpower8

I doubt that's the main reasons. But I've asked around, we'll see if I get a response. |

I don't believe Manning or Gudas replaces what neither Grossmann or Schenn bring. Even with Manning and Gudas making the team next season, Manning is still pretty new to the NHL and Gudas spends a lot of time in the box. I find that both Grossmann and Schenn bring the same thing of what's nessassary, just as long as at least one is on the roster. Shot blocking and physical play on the back end. Manning and Gudas do not hit guys like Grossmann and Schenn do. I'd be looking to move MacDonald 100% and only one of Grossmann or Schenn, most likely Grossmann due to health and age. I'm also not convinced one of Manning or Gudas will be a 7th defenseman next season, possible Schultz too. Schultz originally signed here as a 7th defenseman, he's 32 and I think his play could drift in either direction beyond this season. I really don't have a high expectation for Nick Shultz. |

They are more established players. My problem is with the money. Combined they cost almost 7 mil. Gudas and Manning would cost almost 2. Shot blocking isnt a huge issue. It can be taught and instilled as part of a system, and Macdonald is one of the top shot blockers in the league already. Gudas is a heavy hitter, but not as much of a tank as Grossmann. I'd be quick to move MacDonald and Grossmann if deals can be found for them. I might also move Schenn, but I don't think there's a rush to do so. Moving Schenn almost seems like a move to make a move if you're able to move Grossmann and MacDonald, and you could probably find a deal for him at the deadline or in the following offseason if he hasn't improved in a greater role. It's time for Manning to get an extended look. He's played 242 AHL games (114 points), been an AHL all star and team leader, and he's only been rewarded with 18 NHL games over the course of 4 years now. He's played well in 8 games so far this year. He deserves his real opportunity next year. |

someone ahead of me mentioned the salaries being a factor, I would also like to add that the Grossmann and possibly L. Schenn are not in the future plans of the Flyers. I'd rather them take a chance on a young defenseman on a cheap deal, ala Del Zotto, than have over inflated salaries for veterans.

The puck might have gone through the net, but net isnt even moving at all so Im sceptical. Would be typical though if Ottawa misses the playoff by a point. |

Weird play. From that view the puck has to go in based on where you see it come out behind the net. |
