I'm predicting a big year from couturier next year, provided the flyers keep him. You heard it here first

What do you consider a big year? 20+ goals, and 50+ points? I wouldn't say that is out of the question. Flyers need to add another defensive minded centerman to help take some of the heavy lifting away from Couturier. He's been asked to do so much defensively in the infancy of his career, that it has definitely stunted his offensive development. Throw in the fact he's played with some pretty lousy linemates as well.

I think Laughton, if he's still with the team, will be able to shoulder some of that. I think he'll be expected to stay with the big club out of camp. Also, White could help out as well, depending on how the lines are composed.

Yeah, I think getting him the right wingers and keeping them consistent will really help. Read is a good fit when healthy. I'm not sure what numbers we will see, I just think we will see a considerable jump in his production. I buy into the theory that offseason surgery the past three seasons has really stunted his development and a healthy offseason this year will allow him to take it to the next level.

Of course we are talking about the flyers here though, so he's probably falling apart and requires 2 surgeries this year again too.

I have actually liked his line the past 10 games or so.

Gudas does hit guys and is very physical. Manning is more mobile than either Grossman ( who is very slow) and Schenn. I must admit, I have not seen a lot of Manningbut from what I have seen he can't do the job any worse than 8 or 22. Manning' s AHL stats are very good and he does have a lot of Pim's.. So I am sure he can bring toughness. Luke is just too inconsistent and it is time for Flyers to move on after getting ripped off in that deal
- 3flyerkids

The only reason I wouldn't move Luke right now is that I think his value is less than that of Grossmann. I'd see what a new coach can do with him next season, while still having the option of moving him at the deadline. I would try to move Grossmann and AMac in the offseason though.

I don't think anyone is taking AMac's contract.

But remember, he's a steal for the Flyers at his current deal.

Random question, not sure anyone can/or wants to answer it, but what is the flyers record when Brandon Manning dresses? I've always liked the kid, but the Phi Brass seems not to

A Blues fan proposed the following trade, I'm curious what you all think:

To St. Louis: Giroux and Chicago's 2nd in this years draft
To Philly: Pietrangelo and Backes

I'm the opposite -- I truly hope that Hextall doesn't bite on "Elimination Production" from Brayden Schenn and that he moves them along

I would be disappointed if any evaluation of them doesn't start with "didn't get the job done when the games mattered."

Why would they do that? They just signed Statsny for big bucks, and you could move either of those guys separately for likely huge returns

It's probably a good deal for the Flyers, but I still wouldn't do it. Giroux is a clear-cut #1 "elite" center. I like Pietrangelo and Backes, but Giroux and Voracek are virtual untouchables to me.

I have no problem moving Brayden Schenn, I was talking bout Luke. I don't think they can get more than a 3rd round pick for Luke Schenn right now, and if that's the best they can do, I'd keep him. He's going into a contract year, maybe he finally finds some consistency? If so, they can then move him for more at next year's deadline.

I'll say 5.

Edit: They're 3-3-2 with him this year.

I pity Hextall having to make the call on those two -- I don't think either of them are contributors on a contender, but as soon as you move them and they do anything at all that resembles consistent production, people are going to be all over you. Even though they have been non-factors for the Flyers far too many times to count

What if you could trade Giroux, vinny and our 1st next year to move to #2 in the draft?

That's a cute little proposal, if you were truly hard-up on the cap and thought you were three years away from contention, at a minimum. Might have to get one more piece back

After watching Akeson play Saturday night, it's no wonder he doesn't even get a look anymore. Lazy, no hustle, bad passes...
