I don't think anyone is taking AMac's contract.
But remember, he's a steal for the Flyers at his current deal.
And...

Yes, Alex, I'll take "Things Andrew MacDonald's agent says" for $500.

After watching Akeson play Saturday night, it's no wonder he doesn't even get a look anymore. Lazy, no hustle, bad passes... - WarriorHockey21
The lazy and no hustle don't surprise me. He's probably figured out that he's now a career AHLer and isn't too pleased about it. |

A Blues fan proposed the following trade, I'm curious what you all think:
To St. Louis: Giroux and Chicago's 2nd in this years draft
To Philly: Pietrangelo and Backes - BiggE
What is Backes' injury history? Does he have a concussion history? |

What if you could trade Giroux, vinny and our 1st next year to move to #2 in the draft? - Jimmygrazz
If they'd take Umberger as well, I'd think really hard about it.

Yeah, I think so, though he has played every game this year. I'd probably do the deal, the chance of getting a 25 year old, righthanded shot, legit #1 dman would just be too good to pass up, IMO. And, I believe next year is the last on Backes' current deal so if he does start having concussion issues it's not really that big a deal.

If I were Akeson, I'd probably go over to Europe and play for a couple of years. Get some tax free money and maybe reshape your game a bit. Have scouts start viewing you differently, because I think even if he goes to another organization next year (and he likely will), I don't think he sniffs a regular NHL role on a good team. |

Thing is, he was given every opportunity to prove otherwise... and he blew it at both levels.. |

That's a good idea. He needs to adjust his game somewhat, and Europe might offer that chance. |

Couldn't hurt him, judging by the look on his face saying "I don't want to be here and I don't care".. Maybe it would help him in the long run.
I haven't caught too many Phantoms games this season due to being so busy, so I don't know how long he's been this way, so I'm just judging off of my most recent viewing. |

BSchenn looks much better on the RW. He couldn't keep up with G and Jake, but him and Couturier play at similar speeds and have some chemistry together. |

Agreed, just think, if by some miracle we win the lottery:
Raffl-Giroux-Voracek
Read-McDavid-Schenn
Laughton-Couturier-Simmonds
VDV-Bellemare-White
Works for me.

If the Flyers win the draft lotto an select McDavid, would you start him at center or let him play wing and have less defensive responsibilities. I was thinking he could be the perfect winger for Couturier with his speed and creativity.
Raffl - Giroux- Voracek
McDavid - Couturier - Schenn
Read - Laughton - Simmonds
White - Cousins - Bellemare

Yeah, I think getting him the right wingers and keeping them consistent will really help. Read is a good fit when healthy. I'm not sure what numbers we will see, I just think we will see a considerable jump in his production. I buy into the theory that offseason surgery the past three seasons has really stunted his development and a healthy offseason this year will allow him to take it to the next level.
Of course we are talking about the flyers here though, so he's probably falling apart and requires 2 surgeries this year again too. - funmaster18
Couturier doesn't lack scoring chances, it's finishing them that is the issue right now. |

I think Laughton, if he's still with the team, will be able to shoulder some of that. I think he'll be expected to stay with the big club out of camp. Also, White could help out as well, depending on how the lines are composed. - jmatchett383
Hope so. Didn't really see enough from Laughton to know if he can help in that role. |

1. I would put Simmonds on the 2nd line.
2. Where are VLC/Umberger, a.k.a. our 2 best prospects? |

Well that is certainly more likely, and if we can get Barzal at 7 or 8, I'd be very happy with that.
