I can't disagree with this. I'm not arguing that he's still a star. I understand the importance of removing him from the roster but I'm not gonna sit here and agree with Berube did Vinny any favours whether he deserved it or not. - SuperSchennBros
Agree.. It seemed like he did RJ ALOT more favours than Vinny.
There was no way RJ warranted any more playing time than Vinny. |

Even if we have to eat half his salary, it's better than buying him out. The buyout penalty will be dead weight on the cap for 4 more years at that point, half his salary will only be deadweight for two more. - JAKEw1234
How would it work if we were to trade him, eat half the money. Then say next year that team buys him out... What happens to our cap? |

There is no way I would want to see them eat half his salary and include a high draft pick (my definition is a 4th rounder or higher). I believe he gets the rest of a signing bonus this summer. He believes he is still a top 6 forward. The Flyers and the rest of the league have basically said "hell no" to that idea. If he was a top 6 forward, paying a top 6 forward only around $2 million/yr because the Flyers picking up the rest of the salary would be a no brainer. The rest of the league seems to want even more of a sweetner in a potential deal for Vinny. He just might be Mike Richards untradeable at this point.

make him a coach - vejim
Outside the box thinking, I like it.
I've never been much of an athlete, I would imagine it is very tough for any professional athlete to come to grips with his playing mortality. Vinny has achieved the highest success in the sport. However, the lack of interest from the league is pretty telling. Let Vinny's agent try and generate interest, but when little interest is shown maybe reality starts to set in.
There is no easy solution, but I just don't see a buyout this summer as the best approach. |

Gaudreau, Stone, and Ekblad are Calder finalists.
Klingberg is officially one of the biggest snubs in recent memory. |

I'm fine with those 3. Forsberg left off too. It was a really good class |

Please don't blow this Detroit.
And then please blow it in the 2nd round so we can find out who our coach is. |

This is EXACTLY my issue. And when Vinny was left on the "4th" line even after Umberger and Simmonds went down, I was left shaking my head. - MBFlyerfan
I think when you look at how Lecavalier was playing and skating, it's easy to understand why he wasn't put in those spots. He simply wasn't playing well enough to merit it, unless you want to put him there just for the hell of it. That's essentially what it would be doing.
Lecavalier either has to play in the perfect situation with the right linemates, or he has to remake his game.

Which one of them would you replace for Klingberg?
Its isnt really a snub when the three who were picked are also deserving.

Looking at the long run it could have made some sense. Find out then if he can still play in the top 6 instead of doing it early next season when the wins and losses started really mattering again. |

I think Berube already made that decision, and I can't blame him. Lecavalier even seemed to lose the ability to shoot the puck. How many one timers or good shooting situations did he have where he couldn't even get a good shot on net, when he had the opportunity? As bad of a season as Umberger had, he was still better overall then Lecavalier was.
