The Wings - last couple of years I have noticed the same thing: when the going gets tough, they ain't got much behind #40 and #13. All the fancy puck possession game and skill plays and so on - they cannot really take it to the other team when they have to. They defend well and hope to get opportunistic breaks.

I wonder - do they want to win another cap in the Zetterber/Datsyuk era? Will they trade Mantha and Larkin for Voracek? Would you?

Let it go. Deal looks awful now, but it's early in what is basically a 4 year deal. If Umberger sucks rhino butt next year like this year then I'll jump on the worst deal band wagon.

Voracek is a perfect Wings player. Good defensively, good at puck possession, highly skilled. He could make a huge difference to them.

Here his peak years will not coincide with the upward trajectory of the team. His salary will rise to probably 7m odd soon.

Mantha is a scorer, and Larkin is a LW also apparently very good. In the Wings way of doing things, they would not bring them up for some time - and by then Datsyuk and Zetterberg are close to 40.
