The Wings - last couple of years I have noticed the same thing: when the going gets tough, they ain't got much behind #40 and #13. All the fancy puck possession game and skill plays and so on - they cannot really take it to the other team when they have to. They defend well and hope to get opportunistic breaks.
I wonder - do they want to win another cap in the Zetterber/Datsyuk era? Will they trade Mantha and Larkin for Voracek? Would you?

The wings are not trading either of those players.
The wings were able to build championship level teams over two decades without stinking because they were ahead of the rest of the NHL at first bringing over Russians and then heavily scouting Scandinavia and the European lower leagues. That advantage is now gone as not only have other teams caught on but there are even more teams scouting then when they built their dynasty. Unless there is a new hotbed of hockey to break out in a new location, the wings are screwed because they are attempting to build a cup champion from middle draft picks. That is something that is rarely done if at all.
