Well I've seen greats score on their own net. I've never seen Luke Schenn score on his own team ever. - SuperSchennBros
Well, if Luke can dream it, he can be it! He'll get that horrible own-goal shot down someday! |

Slightly off topic, but on a scale from 1 to "Hartnell for Umberger", how bad does the David Perron trade look for the Pens right now? - johndewar
It's not that bad because hes signed through next season at a pretty good number.
He's been pretty bad in this series. Having such a horrendous defense is also a real killer to guys who aren't big time players who can carry the puck through the neutral zone and into Ozone. |

If the Flyers did what was originally brought up (basically tell him that he's never going to play but must participate in all team functions), I don't think Lecavalier has any legal recourse. They are still paying him (fairly well) and there is nothing that I see that would violate the terms of his contract (without seeing it in full in front of me). Is it unprofessional, absolutely. But they are paying him to be a member of the Philadelphia Flyers, which means that he would have to participate in all Philadelphia-Flyers-related events (with the exception of excused absences) whether or not he is in the lineup on any given night.
Now, he could complain to his NHLPA representative who would formal an internal grievance against the team. - jmatchett383
Heck they don't have to say anything. They have the right to scratch whichever players they choose and there is nothing Vinny or the PA can damn well do about it. Also any player on the active roster is required to attend practices, team meetings and travel with the club on road trips so that is not an issue either. |

Bfuglyien with a few real questionable plays in his own end in that Anaheim series. Last night completely abandoning his player to try for a hit on Perry, only to get deked and scored on.
Also Etem a frequent healthy scratch for Anaheim. What a move, what depth that team has. That defense seems to have settled down - Just5
yeah holy poop was that a dumb play or what. That play single handedly might have cost them that game last night. Winnipeg has a good group of players right now though. I'm excited to see how everything plays out with them in the next few seasons.

I find the lack of empathy in today's comments (by some) a little sad. I truly get self dependance and responsibility, but to have the mentality of "you've been paid millions, suck it up" is just confusing. These are people who have been playing structured hockey since they were tiny kids. That life for the most part is all they know. The transition from that from hockey to a life without, I imagine, is one that can leave a void. Some people will navigate those waters better than others.
Yes these players have been well compensated for playing a game, but it doesn't make them less human. In a business that generates $3 billion/year, perhaps having a few councilors help in that transition isn't asking too much (most likely in the NHLPA, so yes the players are paying it themselves).

That's my point. And yes, they'd be doing themselves nothing but a disservice to outwardly declare to him (privately or publicly) that they won't play him. The better option, if they choose to pursue this course, would be to simply let Vinny figure it out over time. Subsequently telling his agent to feel free to pursue a trade within given parameters is a totally separate matter. |

Just had a Sixers rep call me up. That went well for him. I graciously told him that I do not feel like paying so much as bridge toll to see the product, and that I would only go to a game is he paid for a limo service to take me to/from the game and give me free front row seats.
I will not be attending any game this season. |

Why waste your time or money on a team that has purposely tanked it the past two seasons? It amazes me that as many people still go that do.. |

I do understand the current regime's philosophy, but at the same time, I do not feel that they are putting an entertaining product on the floor currently, and I don't see that dramatically improving this coming season. I really hope they can become a legit contender for their fans (which I'm an extremely fair weather one, if I'm one at all), but I remain skeptical. |

"Happiness" is a nebulous terms that means different things to different people. However, when it comes to things such as anxiety and depression, there are just as many equally credible studies that show material possessions/ financial holdings are largely unrelated to mental health.
Anecdotally speaking, some of the "unhappiest" people I know are relatives and friends whom others would consider to have great lives because of their financial status, material things they can provide for their families, etc.
It's very hard to have it all in life. Making money often comes at a heavy cost in other areas, and the money itself often ends up not feeling as rewarding in the end. For example, why do you think that old "Cat's in the Cradle" song moves so many grown men to tears? It strikes a little too close to home about putting careers ahead of family and living to regret it later in life. - bmeltzer
I have money...Money doesnt make you happy, especially when you have depression and anxiety. Ive had both and most of the time you cant enjoy anything. Its like your mind is stuck on a thought and everything else zones out. fear anger and desperation take over your life. Its a very hard thing to get out of without support and the right meds. |

I used to suffer from both them when I was using a lot of hard drugs, the best thing I found was to get off the Prozac and the Xanax and all that bullpoop. Meditation works 10000x better than any pill. Just go in a mildly lit room for about 20 minutes, make yourself comfortable, and just focus on clearing your mind and thinking about nothing whatsoever. It works miracles. I swear by it.

I could see the first season.. but then the whole MCW thing.. I don't know.. I just feel they start to have a decent outlook, and then the revolving door continues and they trade a good young guy for more picks for another good young guy..
Idk.. I'm not plugged into basketball too much... especially not the NBA.. but I do get some of the Sixers news on the Philly stations, and some of the things they seem to do don't always make sense.. |

I tried everything Mediation Excersise. I was working out like a maniac. I would run and i would think i was having a heart attack(even though i had all the heart tests done). The meds have helped me and family support . I guess different things work for different people. I had OCD to go along with it so its really hard to get my mind to shut off.
People who say think money can make these things go away are ignorant...id give everything i have to never have anxiety depression and ocd.
I mean whats the point if you cant enjoy what you have. I give Carcillo now mad respect...its not easy to come out and admit that something is wrong..very brave of him...It took me 12 years to seek help. |

That's my #1 worry, that Hinkie will always have one foot out the door with the players and will never be satisfied so will keep trading his best/better players to acquire more picks in circular fashion. |

Yeah I shouldn't tell you what to do and what not to do seeing I don't have a single clue regarding anything about your personal life I was just interjecting my personal fear of taking meds, but if they work for ya, all the power to ya brother.
