I like Hall.

But if I get 3 first rounders to build around I either want to go big with getting Eichel.

Or I just use three to get guys that can build the franchise. I am not sold yet that Hall is that guy.

The Flyers can fully well allow him to seek a trade elsewhere because they don't plan on letting him play. As long as they pay him and don't lock him out of the room there is ZERO precedence for this becoming an issue. No where in NHL contracts is ice time guaranteed. If a team says "hey, we'll take you if you hang em up in a year or two" then that's between Vinny and that team. With the NTC he would be signing off on that. And if Vinny has a change of heart well then that team is on the hook. That's the risk they took.

Again there is zero precedence for anything here being an issue. Telling a player you aren't playing him is not breaking any rules plain and simple.

You're right, the Flyers can allow Lecavalier and or his agent to seek out a trade, and they don't have to let him play a single second of hockey for them, as long as they honor their part of the contract which is to pay him his salary. But that's far different from what you posted on page 1 of this thread, on how the Flyers should approach the situation. That is most certainly breaking rules, and the NHLPA, and the League would have an issue with.

That's a tough one to consider. Hall is a phenomenal winger. I think the Oilers will be shopping him or whatever forward they decide to move for D help though.

I can fully see a deal for Josi falling into place for them.

I don't see it tough to consider. I see it as an easy no deal.

Lol, for real

If we're giving up that much, we need a legit #1 dman under 30 coming back

MacTavish is a crappy GM who is afraid to lose trades. I don't see him trading any of his big players. So I don't think he will be getting Josi. The predators need a #1 center and without RNH being in the deal, they probably won't be moving him.

If you take away the big players on the roster, that leaves picks and Draisaitl as the only currency. Maybe Yak. Nowhere near enough to get a top defensemen. Maybe Phanuef.

I don't think what I posted was much different. If it was taken in a different manner then that's not what I originally intended. My bad.

What it comes down to is Hextall and the new coaching staff making a call. Scratching Vinny and playing him every 4th game(if that) isn't working for anyone. If he tells him " hey, were going to honor the contract and pay you but were moving on down on the ice." then what I was getting at is that Vinny and his agent really do have to consider walking away early if he wants to play elsewhere. No one would be touching his deal as is and if Hextall just lays it out that he's getting no ice time here than what else can Vinny do but definitively make a choice, grin and bear it here for the money or walk away early for a chance to play one or two more years elsewhere.

Phaneuf, Buff, Josi. Someone along those lines.

I would be surprised to see anyone trade a true #1 in this day and age.

You take him out to lunch, and get a burger and fries. You wait until your fries get cold and stale.. drop it on the floor and step on it and say "You know, it's a shame how food that was once good gets old, and no longer has it's use. But you know what? That little broken fry down there still has a purpose... Just not on my plate. It needs to go outside and feed those pigeons out there on the sidewalk. Know what I'm saying Vinny??"

And if he doesn't get it...

"I don't even like damn fries, Vinny! My dad made me eat them, and now I need to deal with them when they're on my plate. I just want them off my plate, so I can eat a nice clean burger... amirite Vin?"

So if I buy the lunch can I convince you to have this conversation with some of my co-workers?

Unless it's the #1 overall pick or that Crosby guy, Giroux is a deal-killer (unless it's some crazy overpayment like 17 consecutive 1st rounders).

If you can deal him for 1/2 salary retained and replace his spot with someone for less than the salary you gave away, you come out ahead. Being as most 4th liners come for around $1.2M or less, you can probably do this (depending on what the return is).
- jmatchett383

Which would be fine except with Voracek, Schenn, Couturier and Raffl coming up for contract extensions we are going to have an issue. Voracek is going to make Giroux Money if he puts up those kind of points again. Schenn and Coots will make 3 mill each best case and Raffl will get a big bump in salary as well now that he is hitting 20 goals. There is a lot of cap implications here and we are already tight against the cap.
