I feel like I'm dreaming. Did Tim actually dedicate a whole article to Big John Scott with positive things to say?

Nah...being a big fan of his, you have to carry a battery charger with you always. But I'll take the sarcasm over the bashing. Plus you took the time out of your day to talk about John Scott, I appreciate that.

and/or Kessel on the wing and PP. He is quite versatile, after all.

Men want to be him, ladies want to be with him. I enjoyed his presence on the Wild but when he played with us, they used him as D...not the best idea.

We interrupt your programming to bring you yet another prospect update. I know how much mxg loves these, and I don't want to let him down by letting a blog post go by without producing a prospect update!

Chartier picked up 2G and 1A last night. Producing well in the championship series against Provorov and the Wheat Kings.

He's playing hurt and he's not close to 100%, but he's got 3 Goals and 2 Assists in 2 games so far in the championship series. So far so good for our most improved prospect.

Now back to your regularly scheduled John Scott tribute program.

Not to take away any time from John Scott, but here's the post game interview with Rourke, his coach, and his new linemate Brandon Dube.

Well if anybody was hoping for Babcock as coach, where not on his list of teams. I'm fine with that anyways he'd cost too much money to bring in & i don't think he'd be worth it imo.

Hey Tim,

Just to let you know, Rourke was scheduled to miss game 1 against Brandon, but at game time he told the coach he was going to tough it out. Check out the video I posted with the interview. I had to double check, but he actually played in Game 1. he picked up an assist. So, he has 3 Goals and 3 Assists in 3 games. Pretty amazing production against, arguably, the best team in the WHL.

On another note, Karro Ramo of the flames just had his exit interview.

Ramo also says "we'll see" when talking about testing the market as a UFA. Says it's tempting as it would be his first chance.

Of the teams actively looking for a starting goalie this offseason, Edmonton, Buffalo and the Sharks are the top 3. I have to assume a chance to be a #1 for the Sharks and signing your first UFA contract in California is slightly more tempting than either of the two perennial bottom feeders. McDavid and Eichel are not going to turn those teams around overnight any more than Crosby/Ovechkin did for their teams.

Then again, Edmonton's tax rate is only 38.3% vs San Jose's 52.9%. That is a difference of nearly $150000 per million and the cost of a house is twice as high in San Jose

Well, he's not really hidden among the CHL players, but he definitely was at the time of the draft. He was a very hot topic this season. Since he was in the middle of a breakout season. He was the last cut for the Canadian world juniors team. However, he clearly belonged there. We drafted him in the 5th round, but most people agree he's clearly now one of the best prospects of his draft class.

Our top prospects coming up in 2 seasons:

Rourke Chartier, Kelowna Rockets, C/RW
Kevin Labanc, Barrie Colts, RW
Julius Bergman, London Knights, D

Nikita Jevpalovs (LW) , Noah Rod (C), and Goldobin (RW) will join the professional ranks next season. I'm sure we're all more interested in them currently since they're the more imminent arrival. Hockey's Future has Jevpalovs and Goldobin listed as our best prospects for their respective wing positions. Although, I will say that I think Dylan Sadowy might end up being better than Jevpalovs when it's all said and done from the LW position

Agreed.
The difference was, Scott played like 5 minutes a night. Hannan played way way more and leaked goals.

But a 4th line should be able to play 10 minutes a night to give other lines a breather and wear down opposing forwards. When A guy like Scott can only play 5 minutes for fear of him being a goal leak, someone else needs to double shift several times. Instead of wearing down the opposing team, you are wearing down your own forwards.

Hannan is kind of painful to watch. You can see his mind still computes where he needs to be and he can still think the game, but his body does not cooperate. His gap control, reaction time and reflexes have taken such a huge nosedive.

But John Scott did play 12 even minutes as the only even d-man in Sharks last game vs. Kings.
