What about Yakupov? 20 points in his last 28 games.

Will he keep up that pace next year or go back to being invisible?

I'd take a chance on him for sure if he's available.

(frank)ed if I know....

Trade value is so low we might as well keep him.

That's another thing this fanbase is (frank)ing atrocious for: predicting players' ceilings

Nobody knows. Sure, there's educated guesses and whatnot, but anybody who claims a projection as fact is talking out their ass.

The one that I keep coming back to is Gauthier. He can only ever be a 4th line center because, well, because!

Every goofball fan on these websites is guilty of it. We all need to start the day by acknowledging how ill informed and ignorant we are .....then we can move on to trolling each other.

The thing about Kessel is that it doesn't matter how good he is ( Kessel >Nash therefore his return should be better)...there's only a select few teams that can afford him and the price in trade, and fewer yet that actually need to add a high end supplementary winger.

Arizona, Boston, , Calgary, Columbus, Calgary, Florida, Dallas, Habs, Nashville, islanders, Devils, Penguins, jets all need a quality game breaking scorer.....now take away the teams that can't afford the salary, have no cap space or are unwilling to part with young assets and picks....who's left?

I would review that list again.

Hey! You don't tell me how to run my team!

But seriously, no, JVR would be the only one I'd be ready to deal for.
I'm very interested to see which GM will pay and how much he will pay to get Kessel and Phaneuf. Personally, I wouldn't, but I'm sure there's one out there that will.

I think you keep him... but not because of lack of value. I bet there is some decent trade value there.

To be honest, during one of the Oilers/Leafs games I saw, he looked like the most dynamic player on the ice, by far. He has obviously been abysmal overall in his career, but looking at the skillset, you have to think someone could get him to put it all together.

the leafs would take back a bad contract if the return was good.
A top 6 of Tavares,Kessel,Okposo,Lee,Strome, and Nelson would be scary

San Jose? Can't see it. So much talk of leadership/culture issues on that team not sure if Kessel is the right add.

well, they won't get a good contract, and a good prospect and a good pick. otherwise it would be one for one, not 3 for 1.

Perhaps, but add in the fact that Doug Wilson is clearly nuttier than Squirrel poop, and anything could happen...

Yeah, I think if I were to narrow the list down I would say Nashville, Columbus, Florida, Islanders. Lots of nice pieces on those clubs that fit the age range...especially if you take a contract back.

JVR has benefited greatly by playing with Kessel, just like Bozak, just like Lupul did.

Honestly JVR is lazy and plays smaller than he is. I think he has significant trade value, but I would like to see him gone as he was very much a part of the Leafs "rotten core"... He doesn't fit with my image of the Habs at all. I think Kessel absolutely could change his game and be an impactful player in Montreal. JVR, not as much.

The guy you want is Rielly. I assume you were only looking at players that have a reasonable chance of being traded though.

I also think Kadri is an upgrade on all your centers, except maybe Plekanec.

Gardiner can at least skate enough to keep up with your team ... THAT is the player that we might have McDonagh-like regret over trading. (obviously he will never be as good as McDonagh).

Crazy, but he was only terrible under Coach Eakins....I personally like him, but am not opposed to trading anyone TBH.

I think we have to take a contract back, the sheer numbers would necessitate it. Obviously the worse the contract that comes back, the greater the return

Of course Rielly will be good, but he won't be traded. Just like Galchenyuk won't be traded.
I like JVR mostly because of his contract. Habs needs a few wingers who can put the puck in the net. That's why rumours with EDM are coming back in the news every other week.
As for Kadri, we have enought 2nd line center. More than enough.
