Ok, you're just a Jets fan. Should have seen it earlier.

Didnt the leafs just go through a rebuilding mode? Correct me if Im wrong but they only made the playoffs once since the first lock out. That was back in 2004 I think. Thats a horrible stat for a proud franchise.

I thought after the flyers beat them to end their season before the lock out the team was all old and a rebuild was done then?

they couldn't rebuild, they had the Muskoka 5 and the cap killed them.
they couldn't sign better players and had to get rid of some to be under the cap.
The cap killed them for the next 5 years and also the the Muskoka 5 didn't help by not agreeing to being traded

in the Leafs case it was mostly the GM and the no trade clauses, with those large contracts the cap crippled their ability to do anything and the no trades crippled their ability to get younger.
it was a perfect storm and the management should have known it was coming, after all it was the owners that wanted the cap

Nah, Vancouver is worse than Ottawa. Old Sisters and nobody to replace them. Even Lack is going to get moved soon. At least the Senators are a young team, the Canucks are old, their window is closed and they haven't even started rebuilding yet. They're like the Flames when they refused to trade Iginla or the Leafs with Sundin at the end.
- JohnFergusonJr

But end of the day, they're willing to spend to win. Melnyk isn't.

No budget team has won the cup.

So even though Vancouver still has to start a rebuild, they're at least in a position to one day win.

Ottawa just isn't in the discussion.

That was a fluke year in general, but no, I don't think they were a budget team at the time, since a couple of years later they were still only 2M shy of the cap.

Can't find the numbers for that year though.

No, you embed it with HTML script, and I don't think tripadvisor allows that.

But it also comes with still shots that you can use.

It'll appear on your google places page, and you can throw it up on your website, however.

X

Nothing wrong with NTCs if they help bring in high caliber players. Leafs weren't going to get those players anyway so they through around NTCs to attract scone tier players
