Summers bound to suck what with work and all...but it will still be better than winter. What about you? Staying out of trouble?
- Jeropotato

Yup. Wife, kids, and a mortgage does that for you. But I have a trip of a lifetime coming up in mid august.

Going diving with white pointers at Guadalupe Islands, Mexico. Booked the trip 3 years ago and it's almost here. Finally. Other than that, waiting to see what Jim Benning's going to do with the canucks poop roster. I think we may be in for a world of hurt.

Are you still yammering about the Oilers winning the lottery a few times? Or being in position to win the lottery?

Better settle down with that, the Leafs may or may not be about to go down a long road that might take another 5 years to get out of the basement....only then it will be "different", right?

- Jeropotato

If the Leafs are able to win 4 of the next 6 draft lotteries, like the Oilers, then yup..#dynasty

Yeah, I agree. Good thing we have Nugent Hopkins, Hall, Eberle ,Yak,Draisaitl, Klefbom and Nurse to support said phenom.
- Jeropotato

only 3 of those guys have proven to be top 6 forwards/top 4 D. and no mention of a goalie.

kinda reminds me of the isles when they got JT, albeit with a little more firepower

all unproven. thats reality right now
- Lee Denault

Of course it is....but to say it's McDavid and a bunch of plugs is a bit silly as well.

what about doughty X2. kane, toews crosby malkin
- Lee Denault

pens have crosby and malkin and they barely made the playoffs, then got thrashed.
point being you need depth. kings have quick, kopitar, williams, carter etc and hawks have hossa, keith, seabrook, a pile of role players

adding a top talent doesnt obvioulsy = cups, but it makes it a lot easier / likely

Well you have to be lucky. You also have to be prepared to give your young players a chance to develope as well. So how many more years will the Leafs draft in the early 3rd of the order?

Well he basically said McDavid alone doesn't equal success. It almost seems as though he's scoffing at the talent around him....like Marian Gaborik when he was with the Wild.

Three, minimum in my opinion. Five is more likely. I don't think it would be a hard sell to lure free agent support players to Toronto if there's a good foundation of young pieces already in place.

was a treat to watch him live the other day... i was happy he was shut down. but sad to see he wasnt on his full game

I dont see the oilers being that good that quickly. Crosby,Malkin,Letang and Fleury compared to Mcdavid,Hall,Eberle,RNH. Someone gotta be kicking themselves for not taking Murray, he is gonna be the the top d-man from that draft (i say this as a leaf fan as well!)

For sure. Take Willy Nylander. Great prospect? Probably. He could probably make the Leafs next year. Might even get some points. But it's unreasonable to expect WN to be a reliable multi dimensioned NHL player for probably 3 more years.and 4 more years for the guy you draft next month. And 5 years from now before the guy you draft next year will be ready.
There's always exceptional players that kill it at 19 , but to expect that is unreasonable. I hope for the Leafs sake they don't expect miracles out of 18-22 year old kids in the next 3 years.

gotta keep nylander in the A next year.. nothing good is going to come from playing in the NHL.. im glad they held off bringing him up to play meaningless games this year at the end of the season.

Brown i would like to see have some games in the N

just do what detroit does. because it works

Who actually cares if he's the best D Man from that draft? Too much focus on who the best players were in a draft year and too little on how the pick fits into a team.

As it stands right now....Murray wouldn't have done squat for us...and likely wouldn't for another year at least.
