Good read. Any interesting stories you can share on Joel Quennville, either in his days in Hartford, or behind the bench in STL or COL?

Thanks for your informed opinion. All the same, the NHL players I refereed year after year ---you know, the people who were actually on the ice with me and the sport's other officials -- just might have a wee bit more basis for weighing in on whether I practiced back then what I preached today in the blog. They seemed to think so : http://a.espncdn.com/nhl/s/thn/playerpoll12.html |

Solid player on below-average teams. As a coach, competitive, straight to the point, didn't make disagreements personal. I respected him and was not surprised he went on to win a couple Cups in later years. |

Somehow I feel like you're the kind of guy who would be in the box rather than the bench.

It should be noted that out of 30 votes you got 6, finishing a distant 2nd. |

Great read! Growing up in Boston watching the Bruins; I can attest, there was no bias when you were the ref. I enjoyed watching you control the games and even enjoyed watching you give crap to the players. Lets not forget, your job was tough. There are two refs out on the ice compared to your days when there was only one. |

I don't recall him claiming to be the best ever or most popular. The linked article simply supported that he was considered by players he officiated games for, to be the referee that he referenced his blog.

Two questions if I could:
First off, do you believe that a regular season game is called the same as a playoff?
Second, why is there holding, tripping, and interference called, but a cross check to the back in front of the net is allowed?
