The problem is that if we can't trade Miller we may have to let Lack walk at the end of this season due to him wanting a raise to around 4m. Also markstrom will likely go to europe to play if he is not in the nhl next season. Given this, what would you do? obviously trade Miller and run Lack/Mark next season. But what if you can't trade Miller at all? I agreed with wanting Lack/Mark over Miller/Mark or even Miller/Lack. But this is the problem we are dealing with if we go Miller/Lack. - Retinalz
If you can sign Lack for 4 mil , you jump at that. Bieksa and Hamhuis come off the books next year |

And have 1 season with 10 million in goalies?
EDIT: We will likely also resign Hammer to a 1-2 year deal as we don't have any L handed defensemen to replace him. All we have right now are Edler/Hamhuis |

Buy out Miller and get it over with.
It will never happen, But would certainly fix the clusterfukk we have in net.
I can dream cant I? |

1 season where you keep working the phones and hopefully trade Miller by the TDL. |

It's hilarious that there is even a debate over this issue. Everywhere else in the lineup people are demanding that we trade older guys for younger guys. Miller is a solid player, but Lack was the better goaltender last year; and he's younger. You'd think that there would be unanimous agreement on this issue. - Gullzy
It's really about asset management and nothing more. It's not about who's better now or will be next year. The Canucks aren't winning the Cup next year, so I fail to see why building towards the future now is a bad thing?
Miller is old but he's a serviceable goaltender who would be very very difficult to trade at this point considering his salary. Lack is young (perception) and seems to have worth around the league, so trade him while you can.
The difference between them is really small at this point, which at the end of the year will make a hill of beans because I don't see us making the playoffs regardless of which of them is in net next year. |

True, but ideally you want Lack/Mark for the next 5 years. Hopefully in 3-5 Mark is ready to take #1 goalie and in 4-5 Demko is ready to back him up. Trade Lack when Demko is ready. |

He was better than Miller. He beat Luongo out of his starting job here and even before Millers injury Lack was starting to overtake him.
Why do you want to trade our young talent and keep the old fluffs - VANTEL
Are we winning the Cup next year with Lack in net? This has been your argument before so be careful how you answer it |

With this logic we should trade Tanev and keep Hamhuis because we would have 9 mil on two DMen and Tanev can get us a higher pick |

In order to move Lack, Benning must have tremendous faith in Markstrom, not sure if he does or not but he compared him to a young Ben Bishop a couple days ago. |

For the record, if we could get a 3rd round pick for Miller and not retain any salary....I'd be all over that. But I don't see anyone interested. Thus my trade Lack scenario. |

When it comes to the Lack/Miller/Markstrom trio. The only guy your getting value back for is Lack. So should he be the one moved I'd say this organization has finally said Its time for a Rebuild. Not a "Re-tool" |

No we aren't, but we CAN acquire a pretty good pick, by all indications, by trading Lack....that's my point.
Miller....not so much! |

I would like to see the Canucks take a step back for a couple years so they can add some good young prospects to the ones we already have. |

You can aquire better picks by moving Hansen Burrows Hamhuis Edler Higgins or Bieksa.
Keep the young players trade the old ones

So i assume your goal is to hope that in 2 years when Millers contract is up that a decent enough goalie to either back up Mark or (and more likely) be our #1 is available in FA? |

Lets just call it what it is. A first time GM trying to make a bold move for his franchise that just lost two number one goalies and is now likely regretting it. Especially at 6 mill. |

Well I'm hoping that Markstrom can find his game at the NHL level...that's my hope. If he tutors under Miller for a couple of years and the team stands behind him, putting up with his mistakes and growing his game with proper coaching, I like their chances.
But that's a whole lotta wishing and praying in there!! |

I can't wait to laugh my ass off at you guys when we have Markstrom and Miller and we start getting blown out 9-2 .
Lack was our best goalie last year, and it is pointless having these same debates 3 times a week.
Let's see how the team looks under Marky. No use keep on talking about it - VANTEL
Do you talk out of both sides of your mouth in person? I mean you talk giving your young guys a chance. But maelstrom who is a couple yrs younger then Lack has been given, what 3 games by our organization? You talk rebuild but are saying we won't be good. |
