Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: Game 7 Legacies, Utica Comets Series Tied Former Canucks head coach Alain Vigneault and his New York Rangers lost a Game 7 opportunity to play for the Stanley Cup, while the Utica Comets fell in overtime to tie their Calder Cup playoff series with the Grand Rapids Griffins at 2-2.

Good on Jon Cooper, good BC boy. As I said in the last blog I wonder if AV bolts to Quebec before the post mortem like he did in VAN?

You know, if you change one letter and move them around, Sbisa is an anagram for ABYSS

And if you add mal to the end of that, you get ABYSMAL, which describes a Canucks defense that has Sbisa, Bieksa and Weber in it.

Luca Sbisa once had to consult Dion Phaneuf for tips on how to improve defensively.

How many Sbisas does it take to change a lightbuib?

Six, one to hold the ladder, 2 to run around in their own zone out of position hitting everything that moves, 1 to overskate the lightbulb and one to stand around wondering WTF am I supposed to do.

What's the difference between Sbisa and an amoeba?

The amoeba can evolve as a hockey player.

How many Country Musicians does it take to change a light bulb?

5.

One to change the bulb then four to sit around and write a song about how much they miss the old one.

How do you measure Sbisa's hockey IQ?

You can't, they don't make instruments that measure negative values yet.

A priest, rabbi and imam walk into a bar together. They each get a beer and start to shoot the breeze. Eventually the talk comes to sports and religion and the priest says, "God loves Football the most", the rabbi says, "Well my God love Basketball the most", the imam says, "INFIDELS! Everyone knows that the most holy of sports is camel racing!" The priest and rabbi stare at the imam and then they start to argue for each of their favorite sports. It ends up into a brawl until finally the Supreme Being of all Organized Religions speaks and says, "You three are idiots... I watch hockey, after all, you are acting like the goons and enforcers of the past..."

Here's a story of what happened to me yesterday

I recently received 60K clamshells (packaging) and had 3 girls over yesterday helping me put inserts into the clamshells, we did about 8K. At 2pm a friend called, I was really busy and he knows I have the girls here. He asks me what I'm doing, so I tell him "I'm stuffing clams" there's a pause and he says "sorry, I'll call back later". He calls back after the hockey game and says "I didn't know you had that kind of relationship with the girls who work for you" I said "what are you talking about?" "you said you where stuffing clams" "yeah......ohhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

The girls were sitting there when I said it and none of them batted an eye.

Can I inquire as to what the prevailing opinions are on Kassian, Higgins, and Matthias? Curious they would be cost for acquisition (or contract in Matthias' case).

Acquisition? who is acquiring? Worth? Depends on your needs, they are nhl players.

I don't think Kassian is going anywhere.

Higgins has a limited ntc. Not sure he has given a list of teams. He plays a lot for us, in all situations.

Matthias is ufa, may be worth a late round pick for negotiating rights.

From the Penguins perspective. Sutter is a likely trade candidate. Dumoulin also doesn't have a place on the active roster.

Nice comedic tone to today's comments thus far. In keeping with the Sbisa love-in, this is just a response to a comment (I believe by Vintage) on the last blog regarding Benning/Sbisa:

You are right in that the sky isn't falling. However, this was nonetheless not a good decision by Benning - and that now makes two (the Miller signing - and not only the signing but how the actual negotiations went -i.e. there were none -even Benning said it was the easiest negotiation he's had in a while - is this how a GM acts? perhaps you don't play hardball but all the leverage was with the Canucks, given Miller wanted to play on the coast. Then to give him a limited trade clause, was the pies de resistance.

The Sbisa signing could have easily waited - don't know too many teams that were lining up for his services (in fact, it was with glee that Anaheim got rid of him, if sources are correct). Frankly, I would have rather given Sanguienetti a shot over Sbisa. But now we are stuck.

Ok, and yes, I realize I'm beating a dead Sbisa here....

I still can't understand how they didn't give Sanguinetti an audition.

They are so scared of missing the playoffs, has to be the driving factor. And how close the Canucks were to missing the playoffs.

JB better hold onto his picks for the following draft because we may be missing the playoffs.
