It was expected to be between 5 and 6. Look at what dmen got last year on July 1st... So no surprise in the Habs thread. Good deal considering he is only 27. - fidopro
Only 27 meaning he`s as good as he`s ever going to be and only going to get worst from here I guess that`s what number 4 dmen are going for these days. |

All you've been hearing from Toronto media, you mean.
Local guys, and Francis himself, has said that the team is committed to making Alex Semin work.
Thanks for playing. - BINGO!
Of course he's going to say that while he is still a member of the team. Don't think for a second they haven't been trying to rid themselves of that contract.
You're welcome. Game over. |

I am not a fan of either team, so I can down unbiased. This is stupid... Top 5 picks are not swapped in salary dump trades... - TwistedWrister

Yeah, because a GM is going to openly say "We dont want Semin. We want him gone, asap"...
I'd say thanks for playing, but you lost before it even began..
Sheesh. Canes fans are just as dumb as Habs fans - jbold

I wonder how much they`re going to have to give to their future star top pairing Dman Beaulieu. Gonna be an expensive back end. I see they`re big fans of the Philadelphia model of how to build a team. |

Minus the part where they re-tread 3rd string goalies and try to make them into starters, failing miserably. |

Paying $7m for any season for a guy who is likely going to play 2nd D minutes is just insane |

I don't give a poop if they pay him 28M the first year and 1M for the remaining 5 years. What's the difference? The cap is still 5.5M. |

Remember when I said Dion's deal isn't that bad and the Leafs won't have to eat 2-3 million per on his deal?
Jeff Petry's of the world now get 5.5 million per. |

If they trade Kessel, wherever he ends up next year he's going to get 82 points. Hell, because the Leafs traded him, he'll probably get 90 and 40 goals. That's the way it goes. Book it, that's the biggest lock in sports entertainment today. |

Maybe.. Even if he goes to Jersey..
He's uncoachable, he do what he want and play how he wants. |

I figure it's the Leafs luck that they trade him and he'll rip it up. With an actual C and D on a decent team, Kessel would be deadly. A lot of nhlers have made a point to say more or less 'it's not Kessel's fault' when asked about the Leafs, the whole team was brutal in the second half. I still think Kessel gets a bum rap from many. |
