Both teams have publicly committed to a rebuild. Both teams have one potential stud d-man (OEL, Rielly) and a high end prospect (Domi, Nylander) so I would imagine they're both looking at the same players to draft. Both have some kind of connection to Marner. The only basic difference is Toronto has more significant assets to add more picks and prospects. Arizona has already dealt their big guns (Yandle, Vermette).

Makes no sense otherwise. Unless it's JVR AND Kadri or something absurd.

Either way, the Canes have a hole in their top six right now. Taking out Skinner AND Semin (or even just one) while adding an equivalent number of forwards doesn't help that much.

I don't see Toronto moving JVR short of an unbelievable offer. He's young, talented and affordable. Could easily be in n the top 20-30 wingers on the game for a few years of we ever get a true #1 centre. Kadri we can keep or trade based on consistency and attitude if the offer is fair.
