Only 27 meaning he`s as good as he`s ever going to be and only going to get worst from here I guess that`s what number 4 dmen are going for these days. - HealthyScratch6
This just isn't true. |

Arizona and Toronto are pretty much in the same boat.
Both teams have publicly committed to a rebuild. Both teams have one potential stud d-man (OEL, Rielly) and a high end prospect (Domi, Nylander) so I would imagine they're both looking at the same players to draft. Both have some kind of connection to Marner. The only basic difference is Toronto has more significant assets to add more picks and prospects. Arizona has already dealt their big guns (Yandle, Vermette). - Phenom

I'd bet 2$ ARI will pick a center. - fidopro
I really have no clue what they'll do. All three would make sense at that 3 spot. |

Turns out Petry is really, really good. - Canada Cup
a few solid games in the playoffs as a second pairing d-man, and he just cashed in.
If the leafs are willing to eat say 1.25 on Dion Phaneuf, he will be a sought after commodity |

Because finishing so much lower and having no real operating income obviously puts them in a better position. |

Leafs rank Hanifin and Marner higher than Strome. - PatC80
Nope, they haveStrome first, but Arizona isn't trading their lick, and they are leaning Strome. Leafs trying to get the other 2.. |

JFJ did a lot of wrong, but Rask wanted out. Been talked about many times. - Schenn-Sational!
Yup. Not just wanted out... Refuse to sign a contract and was going to re-enter the draft |

Sadly, yes.
While he got a lot of on-ice decisions wrong however, I will credit JFJ for moving the AHL team back from St. Johns to Toronto, that move has definitely helped the club, both for having easy access to players as needed, but allowing the Marlies guys access to the awesome facilities in TO |

I don't like the deal.
But Petry is as good as Phaneuf and makes less money. |

I know you didn't watch the playoffs so I won't bother arguing who's the better player of the two. |

My roommate last year was from Montreal. I messaged him to troll him and he said he much he loved the deal. He ripped on me for the longest time about the phaneuf deal. |

i don't understand why this concept is so hard to understand. salary structure has evolved but our thinking hasn't and for some reason, we still think of $5 million as star money while stupidly pointing to the cap hits of Tavares and Keith (my absolute fave). i would love to know what people think a 20-22 minute #3 defenceman is worth on the open market. |

If Weber and Suter's deals were done post lockout, the landscape would be much different. Weber makes $14 M a year right now...
Most of the Elite dmen contracts are illegal now, and cap hits on their deals are artificially low.
Hell we all expected Franson to sign for close to $6M... Well, before he went and played for a team with good players |
