Agreed.
I was just at the bar watching the 1st two periods of the game. Came home for the 3rd. Working on some stuff for work as well. |

Murray sounds like he agrees as well
He's said we are trading for a goalie AND drafting one high
Sounds like he values the position too
Quick and Rask are both very good
Even Crawford & Fleury are above average & make like 6mil a year
Feel free to list all the "average" goalies that win the Cup
They don't - jdfitz77
Drafting a goalie in round 2 isn't "high". That's where they are drafted.
Seriously? Oh, I don't know... Crawford, Howard, Niemi, Rask, Ward. You can throw all these goalies in a hat. As was said a few minutes ago, every year a new one rises from the pile and has a run and then gets paid way more than they are worth.
I think the better question is, how many teams have bad goaltending? Few if any, because it is easy to find decent goaltending. The ones that are deemed to be bad (Edmonton) are often the result of bad team D (see Dubnyk). |

The goalies that did win it got big ass pay raises because of it. Before they won they were just like any goalie in the league. - cabin
Crawford, Fleury & Niemi were never Enroth, Lindback & Neuvirth
More like Holtby and Bishop
Maybe not that good, but closer in that direction
Anyways,
My point was that we aren't winning sh!t if we have a goalie tandem like Lindback & Neuvirth
We need to do better
And it certainly seems like Bylsma & Murray agree |

Tampa can easily make the Finals without him. He's the furthest thing from a necessary piece. - buffalofan19

I just didn't like him when we got hm from the NYI and did not want to him signed again last summer to help us get to the floor. When we project our lineup in the next few years he is a big black eye in our lineup when I see him in there but that's just me. - GilPerreault11
I don't mind him here . He isn't a high profile player that will take away from the high profile youngins coming up. Save the high salary for them . in 3 years i'm sure we could be in cap trouble . Moulson won't be the issue. |

Don't want Sharp, don't need Sharp, he doesn't fit in the rebuild and his ship has sailed. Nice name 2-3 years ago. - GilPerreault11
Yep.
(frank) Sharp. (frank) Marleau. (frank) Thornton. (frank) Kunitz. (frank) any of those old sacks. 25 or younger. Waste of assets otherwise. |

Cody Hodgson????
Patrick Kaleta????
I saw Marcus really finding his game torwards the Mid-point of last year. That goal against Chicago was slick and you don't find a young forward with size on trees. I just don't know where the hate for him is coming from? You have to admit that his game was effected by his shoulder? |

The ones we had this past year that I keep seeing ppl wanna bring back are "mediocre"
If Crawford & Howard & all these other goalies are so replaceable, then why do teams keep signing them to these "overpriced" contracts? |

I hear ya, but that's about the going rate now-a-days
Unless u can keep finding young goalies & then ship them off once they're due a significant pay raise |

Well he never has been a "scorer"
I don't understand why u keep going back to that
If he's not "good"
Why'd the Rangers name him Captain?
And why'd Tampa sign him to this "overpriced" deal and put an "A" on his sweater?
He does other things besides score
Analitics can't measure everything a player does for a team
And like I stated earlier,
He leads Tampa in point during the Cup
I know that's a small sample size,
But u talk like he's useless
And that's just way off base - jdfitz77
He was very useless for a lot of games during this postseason. He's a good 3rd line winger. That's pretty much it.
I don't dislike him, I disliked the idea that we should have offered him a huge deal if he made it to free agency. He wasn't worth it. |

When did Enroth, Lindback and Neuvirth ever play for teams like the list you mentioned? Once again, name the last great goalie to win a cup? Nobody is saying that you don't need decent goaltending to win. The argument is that there is "good enough" goaltending and you can find it anywhere. If anything Tampa is proving that you don't need a stud because Bishop has looked shaky many times throughout the playoffs. Hell, Fleury won a cup. |

They're not going to be able to fill all their holes with all players 25 or younger. Give me talent at any age, even "over the hill" talent" at 3 years or less. That's what you want out of this team right now. |

Maybe not 25, but these guys either already are too old, or will be by the time we are "competing" |

If Patrick Sharp costs a 7th round pick, sign me up. The remaining voids on this team, which after the RFAs are re-signed, are small. a few UFA signings will solve any short term contract, and maybe.. MAYBE one moderately bad, cheap to acquire contract. |

When you win a cup people usually get paid. As proof to my point, Chicago didn't think they needed to overpay a guy that just won the cup so they let him walk. Sure enough, another one popped up. No reason to confuse someone salary with their real value. Nobody (Murray included) is ever going to say you don't need goaltending. But we built through Center and D as thatis what wins.

I highly doubt Murray trades for old sacks.
He basically spelled it out for public consumption. |

It is the cost to get him that most of us have an issue with. You're not getting him with 51 and 31 is essentially a first rounder. At that point I'll pass. |

First of all, if Sharp is moved, it won't be at the draft, so those picks will be off the table. The Blackhawks will need to move some major salary to make room for guys like Saad. A guy like Sharp won't be that expensive to acquire. |
