Nobody is saying that you don't need decent goaltending to win. The argument is that there is "good enough" goaltending and you can find it anywhere. If anything Tampa is proving that you don't need a stud because Bishop has looked shaky many times throughout the playoffs. Hell, Fleury won a cup.

Lindback has sucked everywhere he's gone for the past few years besides a BRIEF decent stretch with us.
Neuvirth had his chance to win the starting goalie for the Caps & lost out To Holtby, and looked bad with NYi
Enroth was always average, and sucked with Dallas

The sample size of success these guys had is far outweighed by all the average (at best) play throughout their careers

I highly doubt Murray trades for old sacks.

He basically spelled it out for public consumption.

I agree that they are the going rate. I just really hope my team isn't the one to make the colossal mistake of giving it to them. At that rate, this team is better off without those kinds of players, hands down.

First of all, if Sharp is moved, it won't be at the draft, so those picks will be off the table. The Blackhawks will need to move some major salary to make room for guys like Saad. A guy like Sharp won't be that expensive to acquire.

I don't get it, people defend guys like Moulson or Callahan to death, but you mention getting a veteran like Sharp for cheap, and then it's a problem.

Nothing wrong with Moulson, Callahan or Sharp all are key pieces to a good team, I have no problem adding Sharp if they did but I doubt it.

I made this point today so I'm not gonna get into it again. I like what he's doing and not spending our coveted assets on garbage. It's a waste of currency.

So we trade for 30ish named player. What's he do for us in the long run? Absolutely. Nothing. And what'd you spend to get him? Anything more than throw-away assets like career AHLers and low picks is an absolute and utter waste.

and both Quick and Rask missed the playoffs after having won the Stanley Cup and President's Trophy.

Yes, you need good goaltending, but it doesn't have to be Hasek like goaltending. Average to above average can get the job done. Every goalie has hot and cold streaks and sometimes you luck out and hit the hot streak at the right time. The other 18 guys in front of the goalie are just as important.

We got the old sacks last offseason. Now it's time to get a goalie, maybe another core player who is the right age. Then the rest of the roster spots are for our own players to get the playing time to develop not to have it taken from them by old coots who will be gone in a couple years.

Once again, Sharp would fill the need for teams like Washington so I don't think he will necessarily be cheap. They would be willing to overpay for him. I'd give a third and probably nothing more.
