I think it would be a mistake to give up on him too early. moving him bc you have plugs like Gionta in your Top 9 isnt sound GM work in my mind.
Gio and Moulson are guys you could look at moving, dont give up on 21 year old Centers bc you "dont have a spot for him" - DDM-Coga
I believe both have NTC... puts a damper on things a little bit. |

Most coaches would choose to play gionta over grigs anyways. If your coach isn't going to play him and he can't be sent down your not left with many options. |

Yeah I dunno, there's so many ways of looking at the issue. We have Eichel*, Reinhart and Girgensons running the top 3 center spots for the next decade. If Grigorenko can't play wing, he really has no use to us. He won't be a defensivel specialist at the NHL level, that's for sure.
I really hope Murray gives him an opportunity to grow next year with a full NHL season. We saw him put in the work last season and I think, based on hearing a lot of various sources, his attitude has really adjusted in the positive direction. He's incredibly skilled but I think his foot speed needs to increase and likely his strength at well. He seems like one of those players that might explode when he's like 24-25. If he does end up getting traded, I really hope it's for a quality young player and not some random pick or AHL level talents. - TheSabresTaco
Let's assume that Murray can't make a trade for a top 6 winger, who would you rather try there Hodgson or Grigorenko?
I would rather play Grigo there as he has proven he can play center effectively and may be able to swap in for Reinhart on his strong side. |

perfect world, moulson or gionta drops to the third line, where they both should be and gringo gets time on the second line with reinhart and ennis
player x needs to be found for the top line to go with eichel and kane (Eberle) |

Its an impressive 3 down the middle for the future going forward, but you just never know how exactly are they going to pan out in a season or 2. I never feel comfortable putting all your eggs in one basket approach when it comes to positional depth. If I was as a Sabres fan, I would still want him in the Top 9 long term. At least to the point his value increases more. |

Sabres GM Tim Murray tells @pham1717 a buyout is possibility on Cody Hodgson but adds center is in Sweden doing needed work on his skating.
Ville Leino was also "a high possibility"
Murray won't come out and say it, but my gut tells me 75% BO for Cody based on that. - TheSabresTaco

Not all of us feel like he's going to do poorly. I've maintained all along that whether or not he starts in Buffalo or Rochester is going to depend on how he looks in development camp and training camp. Based on how he looked in Rochester to finish the year, it appears they're planning on slotting him in on the Buffalo roster, but if he has a poor camp for whatever reason, that could change.
That said, he most likely will start the season in Buffalo. |

That potential would be pretty awesome, assuming it works out.
Kane - Eichel - Player X
Grigo - Reinhart - Ennis
Moulson - Girgensons - Gionta
Foligno - McCormick/Larrson - Deslauriers
you can always flip Ennis and Grigo. |

I think his issue is that he is looked at one of the major offensive catalyst on the blues, to me hes a really good complementary player. Putting him with a Kane and Eichel would be well suited to his game since, he wouldnt have to do the heavy lifting on the line. |
