Correct but as of this post we are in a difficult situation, that we didnt have to be in - hubie
As someone else said we are in a fine position. You think someone else is going to give Neuvirth, Enroth, etc a shot to start? We had to run off two goalies last year because they were too good.
His name is Girgensons. Found him. - TheSabresTaco
Not to mention that if Versteeg is such a good "20-goal" guy...why hasn't he accomplished that since the 11/12 season? 14 last season, 12 the year before (apparently very hurt the year prior to that one too).
Yikes, I just looked and Gionta had as many points as Versteeg last year
Its hard to look at Millers numbers he was Mr Softie... but towards the end he was facing 35-45 shots a game... with almost no defense and a team that couldnt score. It would of been nice to see him in his prime in 2-3 years with this team. Im not a crawford hater like most are outside of chicago i think he is very good, but Chicago is also my 2nd favorite team and obivous West team. lol - CoHo_to_B-Lo
Aye. I like the Sabres too, would like to see you guys punch through the East like the Islanders did this year.
I'm very happy with Deslaurier, but he's far from irreplaceable. Versteeg could be a nice piece in the middle of this lineup, and will certainly provide more offense. - nfph
From what I know of Deslauries, can skate and grind, really plays the body. How is he defensively?
Are all signed to NHL deals, It's not like they have nothing. They will sign/trade for someone.
The way Irbe churns them out, he really can make chicken salad out of chicken sh!t. - dadeadhead
Im starting to dismiss this theory more and more. Im sure he's a solid goalie coach but the above average save percentage was more a reflection of Nolan parking the bus.
On a team that's actually employing strategy, taking risks and trying to score more than 1 goal a night they all probably regress to their average numbers.

maybe just to keep up the tradition why don't you trade us Scott Darling for some plug we randomly pick up and a draft pick that is possibly the biggest bust ever?

Classic "gets out of his area from time to time being aggressive" but he's a 4th line winger, and a converted Dman like Goose said. He won't kill you but he's probably most valuable in causing turnovers making life hell for opposing defensemen fetching the puck.
