Keith is going to be the Conn Smythe winner. I WANT him (or someone like him) on the Canucks, a beast that can play all the hard minutes in all situations and log more icetime than anyone but the refs and goalies. |

Chicago essentially has six players that are the core of their team, everyone else is inter-changeable. Toews, Kane, Hossa,
Keith, Seabrook & Hjalmarsson.
Vancouver needs to find those core defensemen if they ever hope to contend for a Stanley Cup. |

It certainly does appear to be an essential requirement to winning a cup these days. Keith, Chara, and Doughty have backended the last 6 cup champs. Heck even TB have Hedman logging huge minutes. |

Canucks haven't taken a defenseman in the second round since 2008, seven years ago, it was Yann Sauve. In 2007 they took Taylor Ellington in the second round. |

You can get a good defenseman late in round one or anywhere in the second round. |

Oh....you need to get some dmen because they take longer to develop, but ya we need that number one center and a goal scoring winger too. |

Benning cites contract uncertainty and a lack of defensive prospects necessitating the Sbisa contract. Also says D are expensive.

Benning says he wants to keep Miller, who has lots of experience as a #1 goalie, to mentor younger goalies. #CanucksTownHall |
