Why are we so hell bent on acquiring picks for everyone? What's wrong with some good prospects? Or prospects and picks?

Pittsburgh has Crosby and Malkin. If they're keeping both they're trying to win now, not in a couple years. Unless they're planning on trading Letang we should be targetting Pouliot. Vrbata should do it. He'd be a great fit with one of Crosby or Malkin. Excellent cap hit and likely a team he'd be open to moving to. Perhaps they need a D-man back, so throw in Sbisa and take something else back (3rd?).

How about Edmonton? Perhaps they want to keep Draisatl, but they have needs and will have an excess of top 2 centers. They need a goalie, defencemen, etc. I'd try for Lack and Tanev for Draisaitl. Not sure if that would do it, but should be a good starting point at least.

I think some old farts wont be here for training camp, problem fixed.

Benning cites contract uncertainty and a lack of defensive prospects necessitating the Sbisa contract. Also says D are expensive.

Sbisa has not earned his money yet. Doesn't mean he can't or that he won't. Benning is right that we lack defensive prospects and that free agent D will be way more overpaid.

Wow that's a special team there, they've played a ton of hockey in the past five years. Three Stanley Cups in five years is pretty damn impressive.
