I expect this week to be quiet but heat up next week leading into the draft , then the following week to clear space for UFA.

If Higgins / Bieksa are still on the team then I will not be sending Benning a Christmas card

I hope we trade markstrom not Lack. Markstrom had a .930 save percentage in AHL and came up and blew it. Lack had solid numbers this year, sure his playoff numbers were bad, but other then Bo everyone played bad. Plus Lacks only 2 years older so the younger thing is not a big deal
- phyllee

Lack only has spent the last 2 seasons in the NHL. Markstrom is further along at his age than Lack was 2 years ago, more NHL experience and better AHL numbers. So to me the younger thing is a big deal. If he can be groomed with patience and lower expectations like Schneider and Lack before him, he could be much better in the long run. Not many goalies breakout at 25, so its unreasonable to expect him to be the savior at this point

Higgins is only an issue when on the 2nd line or PP. If he is used as a bottom six and mentor youth, I'm ok if he is still here come training camp.

Sven should bump everyone down. No point on having him on the team and putting him on the 3rd or 4th line. Kid's skill set is best suited for top 6 and higgins is definitely a better fit in the bottoms six like you said.

Benning also indicated that a few of the Utica DMEN are ready to make the jump...so that means...

Chicago are worthy champions and what that core has done and continues to do is exemplary. Truth be told they are exactly the type of team I was daring to hope we'd become when we won the 2011 President's and starting marching through the playoffs. And I don't mind saying it as our rivalry with them, if it ever was one, feels like ancient history at this point.

Flames gotta replace Hudler's 30 goals somehow. Unless you think 18 year old rookie sensation Sam Bennett can do it??

Kessel is a great fit in Cal...

It means Benning has stated that he wants 11 NHL ready D-men due to the strenuous West Coast travel schedule.

Trading Bieksa will be very difficult. We won't just trade him for cap space and roster space, we would need return as well and he would have to be willing to waive his no trade.

Does Higgins have a full NTC, or just partial?

No wonder they call us a goalie graveyard. Judging a goalie based on 4 shots. That's cold!

We should trade the one who will net us the highest return. That should be Lack.

Kessel's not a press box guy. He's a consistent scorer. His biggest weakness is his back checking and the Flames have a system in place to compensate for his poor defensive play.

I think the Preds are a perfect fit for Kessel.

Kessel would be a great fit on the Predators. He's very much the type of player they lack. Speedy, sniper. He'd either be great with Forsberg, or would provide a fantastic 1-2 punch.

I'm not sure why everyone has hudler traded ...he might not get 30 this year but I'm willing to bet Bennett and hudler combined is higher than 30

Hartley isn't afraid to sit anyone who doesn't play the way he likes ...Johnny sat ...wideman sat ...Kessel would undoubtably be sat at some point

When are trades allow to start? When is the buyout period? July 1 is FA day. 25-26 is the draft.
