I'm fine with us trading him. I just always thought he was criminally under rated

Yep - see that now - must be like Myers, who was born in Texas but chose to represent Canada

I don't see how a regular 60/70 point guy who was our captain, scored "that goal" and went to an all-star game was in any way under-rated. (Pommers)

I might have to go with Kaiser here on his "bank-shot" Hecht opinion. If we change it to "backhand bank-shot Hecht".

Because he didn't make the Olympic team over 3 or 4 forwards that he was clearly better than.

Also, the only reason he went to an All star game and was our C, is because Vanek declined both. Even though IMO Pommer was the better player

"We need to be tougher to play against"

A. Dan Bylsma
B. Ted Nolan
C. All of the above

I guess my point is that I don't suspect these massive upgrades from Regeir to Murray and Nolan to Bylsma.

They will both make mistakes, there is no issue with critiquing their past work

- sbroads24

Absolutely but i think the upgrade is massive. Doesn't mean i will agree with everything he does but no matter how you slice it i think it's a step up at both positions.

So he didn't make a team over less than a handful of players he is supposedly better than means he's under-rated? And so what, Vanek declined both the C and an All-Star game, there were probably 3 or 4 players from that season who were better than him and should have made the All-Star team, right?

I just don't see in any way how Pomminville was/is under-rated, at least by Sabres fans. He's been one of the most consistent players in the league since he became a full-time player and if the reason he is under-rated is because he hasn't won a Masterson Trophy then yeah, I guess he is.

GMTM should use our 2nd rounders and our second 1st rounder only to move up. If he can't then pick where he is.

I'd take him for the 21st pick.

Skinner would give Sam Reinhart a high-flying, Domi-esque, trigger man on the wing.

I'm ok with packaging picks #21 & #31 even, for an established NHL ready player.

Jeff Skinner, Cam Talbot, or Dustin Brown & M. Jones(combo), would all work for me.

Callahan and Brown were excellent players. I don't think anyone blinked when they made the team.

Eh. I don't know, really. If you keep Pommers, we never trade for Moulson and Vanek leaves in FA so I'm not really sure he lifts this team out of 30th the past 2 years, at least not this past season.

BTW, am I the only one who sees Zadorov as a bigger sized Weber? I just do not see him ever developing, in fact, I think of all our prospects and young players, his ceiling is the lowest. He might be almost there now, IMO. Experience, conditioning might make him a better all around player, but I'm just not impressed with him at all so far.

- DynamicThreads

I don't think saying "Pommer should have been a lifer" is the same as "keep the core together". Vanek would have been traded either way as he wasn't signing here (there is no way he walks for nothing).

Agreed - I don't want to move Zadorov for anyone. Potential top-pair D. We'll have plenty of help coming on the wing.

You'd give up the 21st overall pick in this year's very very deep draft for Skinner? An often injured LW? You do realize we have Kane, Moulson, Foligno and Deslauriers at the left wing position right?

The only thing we should be eyeing from Carolina is that 5th overall pick. Tell them we are willing to take whatever bad contract that they want to give us plus we give them 21st, 31st, Grigorenko and a 3rd next season.

You also want to give up a 1st rounder for Brown who had 27 points total for each this season and last season? Not to mention that absolute horrible contract that he has. Guy will be making $7 million the next two seasons.

Talbot is being overrated. You guys just look at his numbers and say wow this guys great. But seriously he just went on a hot streak and don't forget he played backup for the President's Trophy winning Rangers. I remember another goalie who was the backup for a President's Trophy winning team that everyone overrated and we have him in our organization. Chad Johnson.

Martin Jones? Seriously? Why not just bring back Bob Essensa? Probably just as good as Jones. Look at the guys numbers he hasn't shown anything yet and you want to bring him in .

Beauchemin would be a good vet to add.

For goalies anything short of Vasilevsky, Gibson, Subban or Saros would be a disappointment.

We need RW and a good guy to go after would be TJ Oshie. From what I have heard he is on the block. He knows Bylsma and that's instantly a plus.

Ya Poms is better overall than both those guys. People who say otherwise don't know what they are talking about.

Talbot is already 28 and has never shown much in his career until the last year and a half. He will be 30-31 when we turn the corner. Goalies can usually play in their 30s but can also show regression. I am wary of jones or any LA goalie. Seems to be a system there that makes the goalies look better than they really are. I doubt we get vasilevsky, Gibson or subban. I can see those teams unloading bishop, or rask first because of their big contracts. Anderson is young but I think Anaheim wants Gibson to be the guy

This.

This is another example of revisionist history.

Bobby Ryan not making it was a huge story, and most of us thought Pominville should have. Also, wasn't Dustin Brown in the midst of an awful season production wise?

What you are all missing is that you are building a team and not an all-star team. Callahan was a stud 2-way center and Brown was a good two-way player as well (and a beast to play against). You need these types of guys on your 3rd line of a team. I wouldn't have thought twice if Pommer did or didn't make it.

Most underrated Sabre of the past decade IMO

Him or Spacek. I'm sure many will say Sekera too.

- CaptainRivet

Teppo? Was he underrated? I think he was.
