Who do you think is the best goalie that the Sabers can get that is available? - Guest1500
That's a pretty vague question. What goalies are really available ? |

I think they would give away Reimer considering his numbers have been bad lately. I would rather get another goalie but Reimer would be good for the rebuild - Guest1500
Seems Shanny is set on a nice rebuild project the fit seems there, but will he trade within the division |

For what the market looks like based on value I think may be Lack. I do like Talbot but hes over priced and im sure the Anaheim goalies will be a high price as well. |

Good point, he might but depends what he wants so I will be interesting. Reimer has played terrible since they got Bernier so it would be interesting to see what happens. Also they might trade Kessel |

Well just based on opinion and knowing who is available.. young guys are 1. Jones 2. Lehner
Prime guys 1. Talbot 2. Lack 3. Ramo 4. Neuvirth
Older guys 1. Niemi, 2. Dubnyk
It really depends on what Murray is targeting. I know he ha a preference list. He wants to trade first, then sign a goalie of stopgap quality.
So trade first, he's highly likely looking at 1. Talbot 2. Lack 3. Ramo-Niemi-Neuvirth-Dubnyk 4. Jones 5. Lehner.
Obviously it's guess work here, but I'm trying to connect the dots. |

Howard and Lindback can easily be in the mix too.

Corn shells would be the reason.

If you're having fresca tacos without corn shells, you're dropping bowling balls. |

I thought Reimer would be good for a year or two until the young guys get better and we can build some goalie depth. Reimer price is decent $2.2 million and he would be good for the rebuild. His numbers have been bad lately but that is because he played like 2 times a month and it was usually back to back |

Risto Bogo
Pysyk Oduya
Zadorov Gorges
Weber - Stripes77
WHY even bring in Oduya?? I don't get it. He wasn't even THAT great for Chicago.
he had 5 points in the playoffs but 26 in 76 regular season games.. was only +5 on Chicago. He hasn't even topped 17 pts in a season for almost 8 years. Why pay him probably 4M to come play top 4 minutes. I'd rather have the younger guys we have.
Bogo and Gorges can eat big minutes. Pysyk and Weber can be paired with them on different pairings as well. Big Z and Risto were solid together last year too. Keep Ruhwedel as the 7 and McCabe in Roch. |

A nice thought. A 31 year old goalie that has honest, quality trade value. Might be a bit more than the Sabres are willing to give up given his age. |

Good point forgot about him, this would go to the question of dose he want a bridge or would it be his goalie going forward. If the price is right would be nice |

(shrug) why not? These guys are all about the same. I don't know why we value a backup on someone else's team so much.

For a few reasons.
For one it keeps Mike Weber in the press box
For two is keeps Josh Gorges from playing 22 minutes a night.
If you're looking at points Oduya isn't going to get a ton.
It keeps Zadorov playing with a good veteran (Gorges) playing sheltered minutes and still getting PP time.
Risto is miles a head of Zadorov. I want Risto playing big minutes next season, I do not want Zadorov as his partner, at least not yet.
Defensemen are not players you throw to the wolves. You need to develop them properly. Risto did that while playing in Europe and Rochester. Zadorov still has as homie would say "much to learn" |

Weber has lead our team in blocked shots for each of the past 3 seasons..
In 2014 he was 12th in the NHL.
In 2013 he was 16th in the NHL.
In 2012 he was 25th in the NHL.
He is not a top 4 guy but his role in the bottom 6 DEFINED and definitely NEEDED on this team. |

Mike Weber is not a top 6 D on a good team in the NHL. He's just not.
Him blocking shots all the time means we don't have the puck. Sure he will stand there and block a shot and sometimes you need that but when one of your least played defensemen are in the top 25 in block shots in the NHL something is wrong. It means when he is on the ice more often than not the Sabres do not have the puck. |

I agree. Weber is not the guy who is going to take us over the top, but he is a part of the success we are going to have. |
