Ohhhh yea he is still in the Q and posting better stats each year.
We took what Compher or Hurley instead of him wasn't it? - JVince11
Lemieux I believe.
You're thinking the wrong draft. |

Bob McKenzie told me Murray is " ready " and that's all he would say to me. I thought he was taller. - SABRES 89

Not saying I would bend over backward to have him here but I don't get why so many people are completely opposed to Patrick Sharp. When he stays healthy enough to play 70+ games he is always a 60-80 point kind of guy. He is 33 years old so maybe he won't be able to play that many games any more but still.
He has better stats than Hossa for the most part of his career besides one or two. Hossa does seem to have slightly better playoff stats but mostly due to more assists whereas Sharp is more goals.
I don't get it. I'd buyout or deal Hossa at age 36. Maybe just trade Sharp because he is younger and has more value with a better deal? - JVince11
Hossa is one of the best two way players in the game... Its not all about points when you have guys like kane and toews |

Not ready imo - gerbe75pts
I think he is everything Murray is looking for. I would package 21 and 51 to see if we could move into top 10 for him. I would even put him at the top of the prospect pile in front of Fasching Baptiste and Bailey |

There was a time LONG LONG ago... that everything that Garth wrote became a babbling and misspelled joke. This is another one of those moments. |

I just can't see any team giving up a top 10 pick for 21 and 51. The value doesn't even come close to matching. If you're going to ask a team to move down a minimum of 11 spots, you're going to have to give them something special in return. |

Patrick Sharp is 2. He's 2 spots ahead of Logan Couture. Cause that makes a lot of (frank)ing sense. I had to swig on some pepto just to keep from keeling over. |

The flaw in this argument is that the Sabres don't have another winger anywhere near the caliber of Kunitz. - buffalofan19
Let me fix that flaw by saying we don't need neither Kunitz or Sharp. I wasn't really pointing out the comparison, it was more about Sharp's declining play, plus age equals... no. |

They do, however, need a winger of that caliber, at a minimum.
The brevity of his contract far, far outweighs the negative of his age. |

Yeah, moving up 11 spots in this draft would cost 21, 31, 51, and Grigorenko.

At the end of the day, I don't see us having 51 anymore. 21, 31 and a propect or young roster player could most definitely get us into the top 10.. or close to it. 31 is widely seen as another 1st round pick caliber. |

I wouldn't mind giving a few dimes to Soderberg. Would be a nice piece to have at 3C if Girgensons is pushed back to winger if we can't get one via trade or UFA. I like Larsson at winger more any way. |

As much as I'd like to see Grigo succeed here, I'd be willing to let him go for Timo. I don't know if he's the "something special" you have in mind. |

I'd make that move in a second. It could work with some GM's considering he does have first round talent. However, I wouldn't hold my breath either.
You're right, though. Assuming Eichel and Reinhart turn out as good as we all hope they do, Grigorenko is the odd man out. |

Grigo is the odd man out at center. Didn't they play him at winger when he came up late last year and he finally looked somewhat comfortable. He had like 6 points in the final 15 games I thought.
if worst comes to worst...
Kane - Eichel - Ennis
Moulson - Reinhart - Grigo
Foligno - Girgensons - Gionta
Deslauriers - McM - Kaleta
Hodgson
isn't AWFUL... for a young team. |

he is a 29 year old 2 way center who is big bodied. I think he'd be a great 3C. I think he had like 13 goals and 30 points for Boston last year.
Problem is... he is actually regarded as one of the best UFAs on the market at C. Someone is gonna throw 2C money at him like we did with Leino. |

To quote a frequent poster on this site, "we don't need Eichel and Reinhart to be GOOD, we need them to be GREAT."
And while I am confident Grigorenko can be good on the wing, I have more confidence that Meier will be GREAT there. |
