He gets so worked up over this stuff.. - jochfr
I know...this discussion is a good hockey discussion. I guess the point is if this trade would go down what does that make you think of TM's first 1st round selection as GM?
I would say that's a big swing and a miss. |

and honestly what are people smoking we tanked the season for Samson and now people want to trade him away like he's a second round pick ? and really Samson is worth way more than Ryan O'Reilly - gerbe75pts

Its me against the HB world here, as usual.
From real like NHL people....
"Reinhart best case is he turns into ROR"
"It would take more than Reinhart to get ROR"
Somebody please tell me why all of you know better then people employed by real live NHL teams? I'm not trying to be a jerk saying that, just really wanna know. - Homer
I don't see ROR as this all world two way hockey player people rave about. He is a good complimentary piece.
I will tell you this much. For the Sabres to win a cup one day Reinhart will need to be better than ROR IMO. |

I've also heard from real NHL people, current scouts, former coaches that Reinhart would be the engine that drives the Sabres. Eichel is the key but Reinhart is what gets it going. |

I'm on the fence really... i just don't know. Like Stripes said, there is something about how his career has been handled so far that makes me not want the guy here.
Gerbe is just a nutball about every prospect we've ever drafted.... Gerbe75pts, Cat (sucks), etc... Eventually he'll get it that not every player he likes is going to pan out or even make it to the club.
Also I don't watch enough of ROROROROR to have an opinion on how he plays.
Edit: no offense Gerbe... |

If we are looking to be a playoff team this year, (which we are not), would be the only time we would even THINK about moving Reinhart! |

Real NHL people said Andrei Kostitsyn would be better than Corey Perry, and Braydon Coburn was better than Shea Weber. So, there's that. |

That's pure draft stuff, scouts make mistakes all the time. This is an established player vs potential. |

It's more about moving unknown assets for all we know as well as plenty of scouts and GMs having a much higher ceiling than an absolute, known quality who doesn't even match up.
That's why ROR can (frank) himself. |

Ok so you're on board with trading a potentially great player for a known pretty good player. So be it. |

No we don't know more, but you mentioned 2 NHL people and I mentioned 2 as well. Just like us they have their own opinions.
The one point I would like you to answer is what does it say about Tim Murray that he traded his first 1st round draft pick (2nd overall) as GM the next year?
TM is supposed to be this expert amateur talent evaluator. He should know what he has, and if he is moving him the next year something isn't right. |

I'm not quite sure what teams would rather have a 24-year-old with one year left on his deal than a 19-year-old 2nd overall pick on his entry level contract.
Then again, I'm no expert. |

I don't even think this is a discussion that should allow contract variables into it. |

A 24 year old who has been a pain in contract negotiations his entire career none the less. Character says something to me. |

Touche. We are on in the same view point of this.
If we can't sign a top 6 RW, I think that we are almost forced to move Gionta up to 2nd line and put Girgorenko at 3rd line next to Girgensons and Foligno. - JVince11
If we can't sign a top 6 RW, I don't see why we wouldn't fill the hole with Grigorenko. He's 6'3 215lb and we all know he has a high offensive ceiling. Him on a line with Reinhart and Moulson and I can easily see him scoring 20-25 goals. Heck, put one of Jerry's kids on that line and he'd be good for 15. At least this way we can increase Grigoenko's trade value if he's not in Murray's long term plan. And if he is gone by the end of the week I'd put Hodgeson there just to do the same with him. |
