Chiarelli getting canned has more to do with the contracts that were handed out with NTC, but I think Neely and Jacobs are more to blame at this point than GM and coaches. Julien needs to keep his mouth shut since if this team doesn't make the playoffs he is going to be looking for a new job. Looking at the D lineup come October
Chara-Seidenberg
McQuaid-Miller
Krug-Morrow(?)

This team will never get out of it's own end. Too slow to deal with the faster teams in the NHL.

(frank) me.

Friday totally sucked the hockey life and energy out of me. So instead of responding to this with any sort of hockey insight, I submit a picture of an old man fashioning a canoe out of a log.

I think the question nagging us all, however, is: Will DotheDougie now change his hockeybuzz profile name?

- Charlie.Conway

Only an idiot would make a username the name of an unproven player without a long term contract.

I've read in a couple different places now that Hamilton is being thrown under the bus by Boston (organization? Media?). Can someone elaborate on this? I haven't seen or heard anything specific

He was apparently "uppity" and a "loner". . . .

So Sweeney, for the good of the team naturally, was forced to trade him for peanuts (please note the sarcasm)

Its a complete fabrication. They find some stupid way to justify a horrendous trade and it just makes them look worse.

I had lots of people come up to me over the weekend (for which i donned my Whalers hat for the duration) and even this morning at work to discuss what the heck had happened with my team. I don't want to even talk about it. My team is the laughing stock of the league, and with good reason. It's hard to defend any of it. If there's ANY silver lining, it's that we got a damn good goalie in Jones (have seen him play for the monarchs many times in providence) and a high D prospect. Would have loved that trade if we hadn't held onto half of Lucic's salary. . .

Maybe they'll surprise me Wednesday and be able to swing something. But at this point i hightly doubt it.

Do you have any proof of this comment or are you just going by some of the whispers the Bruins have created?
However I am not the GM, president or owner of the Boston Bruins. And as contract negotiations went sour, (and by sour I mean Neely and Sweeney being pissed at Hamilton for refusing their low-ball offer),

Yep. Its hard to put into works. FUBAR is the closest I can come. I can't even be mad at Sweeney either. He is a glorified secretary at this point. Neely is running the show with his "vision". There is no excuse, its just straight up good ol' fashioned incompetence.

I am just deducing from what I know. I know that they offered him ONE offer that they thought was good. Dougie's camp countered with a higher sum. From what I know that was the end of the conversation.

Edit: Judging by how they have treated their RFAs in the past. It just sounds like they didnt want to give him anything close to what he was asking. And they didnt want to be challenged on their offer. But here is an article with their explanation.

http://nesn.com/2015/06/d...gnificant-contract-offer/

Seeing as though Neely fired Chiarelli because they had a "difference in the vision of the team", you can surmise that Neely does not like to be challenged. What he thinks is right goes, period.

Totally agree. Loved Neely as a player. as head of hockey operations. . . not so much. And you know the Jacobs family has a huge hand in all of this. Are the owners of other NHL teams as hands on with their team's "vision"?

And honestly, I feel horrible for Claude. I know he came out and said some stupid things about Hamilton as a person (who i might add, went to a childrens hospital dressed up like Elsa from Frozen). But Claude is totally boned. He is in a no win situation with this team and with that front office. He was probably hoping he got fired so he could fill a vacant jobs on any other team.

Well if Sweeney is telling CJ to "prove to us you are the coach for this team", they sure as hell made it difficult for him to succeed. Oh well. Not much left to do except sit back and watch the this circus continue to light the franchise on fire.

Make sure its cheap, old fashioned and really poorly made alcohol so it matches Neely's vision of this franchise.

The more I read the madder I get, Fluto's piece and then the comments, HOW ARE PEOPLE (frank)ING DEFENDING THIS MOVE???? Do they only watch NESN? Why do we keep shipping out top talent to sign the Adam McQuaid's of the world???? WHO OK'd that signing? Are they drunk and high while Jacobs laughing menanically at how to extort more money out of season ticket holders? Everyone thought this organization had actually turned the corner and then they DID THIS??

I pray that the Jacobs family becomes embroiled in a controversy that forces the sale of the team and we can find another ownership group/front office that knows how to actually run a sports franchise.

@dothedougie - Nice write up, I went through a similar sequence of events. My wife and mother in law think I'm some sort of psychopath after yelling about how he was "only 21" after they drafted Senyshyn. They are Canadians so they understood but honestly (frank) this franchise! What other team in professional sports DOES THIS??

Is Bergeron next? Seriously they are wasting prime years of hockey player who's number someday will be retired to the rafters but instead NO ROSTER PLAYERS FOR A FRANCHISE DEFENSEMAN WHO WAS 22 YEARS OLD!!!!

Agree with so much of this. Including the fact that i haven't been able to afford to go to a bruins game in Boston since 2013.

Agree with you about DotheDougie's write up. I enjoyed it and shared most of progress of emotions throughout the night. Luckily the Hamilton trade happened about ten minutes before i left work for the day, otherwise i may have had to leave early too. By the end of Friday my wife was literally screaming at me because i was going insane watching the draft. My biggest reaction notably after the 15th pick overall.

I'm as mad as the next Bruins fan. I have no ammunition to defend my team against the rest of the league. If Sweeney's goal was to make the Bruins the butt of jokes around the league for years (decades?) to come, he was successful. and it makes me sick. . .

EDIT: I remember calling into to XM 204 (Home ice) after the Joe Thornton trade and trying to justify it with whomever the shows host was. That trade took me years to get over. The Seguin trade stung. . . and now this Hamilton trade will haunt us all for a very long time. And I can't justify any part of it.

My belief is that Pastrnak will come close to peaking when his ELC expires, refuse a bridge or low-ball offer, and be shipped out as well. Seems to be the trend. "Take my offer or get the (frank) out."
